This has been my experience with creative cycle works.
I am writing a quick list of events so other forum members can be WARNED about there poor quality work.
I initially went to creative cycle (ccrwx) based on forum members recommendations.
Creative is located in mass (exit 10 off 195) and I'm from RI located about the middle of the state. So despite the long drive (half tank of gas round trip) I decided to contact PAUL and set up an appointment.
I had already done some work to my bike; therefore I had the plastics removed. I brought the bike in for two fresh tires, and to have my valves adjusted. While the bike was there they also went threw my carbs. They noticed that I had warn factory jets installed. So I decided to have them replace them. Soo fast forward a few weeks, (jets were on back order) I head up there full of excitement and pick up the bike after forking out $800 bucks for the bill.
* It should be noted that I delivered a NEW battery and my personal service manual to them as an aid in helping them with the repairs.
I get the bike back take it out for a ride. I notice that the bike is still cutting out, (the reason the carbs were worked on) so a week goes by, I contact Paul again and let him know that there is a problem.
I bring the bike back up to ccrwx and ask for the following repairs. New chain and sprocket (14-43 teeth)
Replace my fork seals, fix my electrical issue (blinker problem) and re-work on the carbs to make the bike not cut out.
Again fast forward 2 weeks- So i head back up there to pick up the bike. Another $400 bill making the total spent $1200 and going on the 4th round trip at $20 a trip for gas.
I pick up the bike. Its covered in grease prints, the electrical is not fixed (I had to fix it myself at home) they installed the wrong chain and sprocket kit. They also did not remove much of the lithium grease from the chain so it got everywhere including all over my back tire. There are more chips and missing paint from my plastics being taken off.
What I thought was the carbs making the bike "cut out" turns out to be a neutral safety switch (kick stand switch) there solution was to either cut and splice the wires together (I said NO) or what they did... wrap a zip tie around it. Well after looking at the switch for 30sec. it was clear to me that the springs were worn. I had to order some springs from the local dealer and pick them up (about a 45min round trip) to fix the problem safely and correctly.
It as this point that I have decided to never go to creative again. The long distance of driving there and the fact that every time I've got the bike there has been a problem.
I was so pissed that I needed some time to calm down before I could even talk to them.
Fast forward a week.
I contact Paul and let him know that they screwed up my chain and sprocket kit and I would need to return to the shop to have the correct one installed.
Two weeks later the chain and sprocket arrive and I again drive up there to have them install it. I'm in and out in an hour and they offer me $10 for gas for my trouble.
Now in my mind I'm full of excitement. I finally got the bike back despite all the bull shit. It has been months at this point and all I want to do is RIDE!!! So I take the bike out for a cruse. I come to a stop sign and I am engulfed in smoke. I have a small heart attack and immediately shut the bike off. I start looking around and notice that the valve cover gasket is leaking. I'm HEATED!!! They worked on that when they adjusted my valves, and now its FUCKING LEAKING! And I have to go up there again!!!!!!
So I ride the bike home calm down and contact creative AGAIN! It as at this point that Adam the shop owner steps in. I discus the situation with him and bring the bike back once again!
So this is my 6th round trip at this point. So I bring the bike up. Its pissing oil and the motor sounds like shit!!!! Definitely. some damage. There is also some bad blood between me and the shop I feel. It should be noted that the only reason I brought it back to them was I paid to have it done right the first time. I cant afford to have someone else work on it.
Adam (again the shop owner) takes a look at it agrees to replace the gasket.
Fast forward two weeks again.
Adam stated that no one was willing to work on my bike. He was the only one working on it. So he replaced my gasket YES it was leaking oil. He also claims that the oil lines were leaking, and said that he had video of it leaking. Due to the fact that the oil lines were leaking that it potentially dried out the top of my motor. This would explain the loud ticking and the fact that the top end sounds like shit!!!
This came as a bit of a surprise to me as I had changed the oil on the bike and make sure the lines were tight. The fact that they would rattle lose is surprising.....
Although I was hopeful..... Adam stated that he got the bike back together and it sounded fine. He said I got lucky.
So I head up to pick up the bike get it home.........
List of problems......
1. The bike is a quart of oil low.... I bring it in for an oil leak and you don't put any oil back in the fucking thing???
2. I'm missing nuts and bolt that hold on my plastics..... SO Adam the shop owner who claims to be the only one that worked on it LEFT OUT MY NUTS AND BOLTS????? WTF!!!!!! I call the shop and let them know. They ask if I want to pick them up.... UMMMM hell no!!! So i have them mail them to me.
What I get.... a mixed bag of shit! They were not even the correct nuts and bolts, and I got someone else's random parts.....
3. No i didn't get lucky the bike motor still sounds like shit!!!
So after 7 round trips $140 in gas and $1200 spent on repairs and months and months of dealing with this shit... the bike is still fucked up.
The bike is now being serviced at a reputable dealer!!!! I brought it in. they said my valve cover gasket is still leaking and I defiantly have motor damage. I'm paying another $240 for this place to look at it and let me know if my bike is not a pile of scrap.
Moral of the story.... don't waist your time at CREATIVE CYCLE WORKS it will cost you money lost riding time and damage!!!!!!!!

10 years in business.
Never had nary a complaint.
Bottom line is we bent over backwards for this guy. NOT a bike we would normally work on due to the condition and mileage but hey, he's Rekless!
Gave him all sorts of deals, bent over backwards and this guy and does nothing but complain via emails and PM's. Over and fucking over...no calls...emails and then complains when we don't get back to him or respond.
Ryan, good luck with it. Sorry it didn't work out but I'm very glad you found a reputable shop to work on that bike.
*Do not delete this thread and or post. I stand behind everything we do at the store. I stand behind our prices and our work. We got off to a rocky start with Ryan with a couple mis-steps in some wrong parts being ordered but he'll learn a few things once other shops get their fingers in his bike. Cha-ching!

lets talk about the your bike ryan! you bought the bike at night with a buzz, didnt even know if it ran right, you told us1 you brought us the bike with no plastics or seat, so we couldnt road test the bike when it was done, we drove it in the parking lot and the bike rode fine! the sprocket issue i apoligized to you i ordered the wrong year ones thats why there was a fuck up!! but we told you to ride on the sprockets, and when the new ones came in we would replace them! which we did! and ask anybody who has ever replaced a chain, how long it takes to get the grease off the chain! we do wipe them down, we dont spend hours making sure all the grease is off them. as for the finger prints and your bike dirty, when i called to pick it up you didnt know when you were coming and showed up we hadnt cleaned your bike, or prepared to for you to pick it up!
dont know why im even wasting my time responding to this!
HOPE YOU FELL BETTER NOW!!

Have to respond to this Ryan.
I don't want to get in a pissing contest with you because it could go on forever and at this point you and you're bike just don't matter to me but you should mention that you brought it back to us because it was "FUCKING LEAKING" but the major issue was that the oil feed lines were loose and about to fall out, something that had nothing to do with us—The older gixxers pump 22qts of oil a minute—and you had a loose oil feed!!!! Why? "Oh, maybe my girlfriend loosened it up while she was trying to get a new filter in.", maybe so, but it had nothing to do with us.

Wow.. I've never had any work done by creative, Only know them as friends.
But sometimes thngs happen, whether its the owners fault or the shops fault.
Ryan< good luck with your bikes.

Not for nothing but I was there when the guy was going through this shit with his bike and what I remember is the guy saying he bought the bike in the dark, knew it was a mess and was hopin creative could work magic which that bike needed and much more.I was there when he picked it up and THANKED Adam for workin on the bike since no one wanted to touch it in the first place.Moral to this story is Adam trying to be to nice to someone who really could'nt give 2 shits about anything except gas money if you noticed thats all this guy talked about! To make a long story short DON"T buy a bike in the DARK and on Rum and Cokes! It's like like that sayin when your out drinkin (boy she looks good, then you wake up in the mornin and the beauty queen turned into a frog after your head cleared up! I speak the truth and nothing but the truth!

This was not a thread to start a pissing contest. It was started to share my experiences with this shop.
The bike I own is a 1988 GSXR 750. It has 32,000 miles on it. Not a lot of miles in my opinion. Never once did I sate I bought it while intoxicated or under the influence of drugs. Not sure where that came from... But it is true that I did purchase the bike at night and noticed more cosmetic imperfections the next day after the purchase. UGHHH so what? What does cosmetics have to do with mechanics? Also you say you bent over backwards? That's funny! Sorry I was holding you to a standard you couldn't meet. I.E. doing a good job and or fixing what you said you would.... that's bending over backwards? That's laughable.
The intention of this post how ever "up set" it makes creative. Is to share my experience and let other forum members decide for themselves if they would like to do business with them. You say you never had a complaint before... I call shenanigans! Yes there are two sides to every story im sure creative has there own option. But nothing I said was a lie. Take my experience for what you will....
Couldn't even put the plastics back together LOL HAAAA HAAAAAAAAAAAAAA......
wait thats not funny... more work and money for me!
If I harassed you so much with phone calls and e-mails Paul, how would you not know I was not coming to pick up the bike?? That's bull shit! And a crappie excuse. Oh I forgot to mention the the time I called left a message and arranged to pick up my bike on mothers day. I show up and the shop w (as closed! Thanks guys!! I let it slide though after all it was mother's day.... thanks for letting me know you were closing early though! (8 round trips)
Adam you say wait till i bring it to another shop and get charged more? LOL your fucking kidding me! Id gladly gladly pay more to have it done right the first time. Saves me money in the end. And the quote "deals" you gave me... ugh not that great bud!

.ummm noooo...... I have a limited budget. I'm unemployed at the moment, call it expecting to have it done right the first time.... call it giving them the benefit of the doubt. Sorry If I held them to a higher standard??? Or just expected it done right and not pay out of pocket to have it done twice??? If that makes me a nut so be it... I had no problems finding another shop to work on my bike btw... no shop in there right mind would be able to perform a simple list of repairs?? Carbs, chain, fork seals, some electrical work, valve job, and tires all seem standard to me retard

If your unemployed and have a limited budget, why would you buy a bike in the first place. You should of saved your cash and buy something newer, unless you got the bike for pratically nothing and expect miracles. It's an 88 . Most shops would not touch it, especially knowing that you can't afford the repairs.
I've been in this same situation as Creative with when i helped out with paintjobs. Some people you make happy, some people will cry. You live and learn. You try helping someone with a cheaper deal and blah, blah, blah...Now people can go spent their 5-6k on a complete one...

Guys please keep this thread on topic. I am asking if any of the original parties involved have anything left to say? If not I will lock the thread, because this won't turn into a pissing contest.
Stangman_NB
Jun 30 2009, 12:12 PM
BTW I am not locking this to censor anyone in regards to the topic at hand. I feel everyone should voice their opinion about whether or not they had a good experience with a shop. I only want to lock it because there are people sticking their noses into a subject that they shouldn't be. If someone actually has any good evidence as to whether or not RedRacer got screwed, then great yes they should be posting, but all I am seeing right now are people throwing in their 2 cents based on their experiences with the shop not his.
Hell I have had good experiences and have referred many people over there time and time again but I can't get into it in this thread because that's not what this thread is for, this is for 2 parties to discuss what happened, argue their points and hopefully come to an amicable conclusion.
If anyone else would like to express their experiences with Creative please feel free to post in their part of the forum.

As stated before this thread will stay open as long as the parties involved have anything to say. Otherwise with their permission I will lock the thread and leave it be other than that.

LOL turns out someone doesn’t know how to adjust valves and cuz of that one lobe on the exhaust cam was scratched. NOT DO TO OIL LOSS. The veteran Suzuki mechanic said he has seen “oilers” leak oil out of the lines and while certainly possible to cause cam damage never has he seen only one lobe fucked up. And claims it was due to poor adjustment so thanks guys!!!! (was $1,100+ worth of parts if bought new)
Which by the way u should have fucking noticed when installing a new gasket but noooooo you said everything sounds/ looks fine… Lucky I bought a whole top end off an 88 with 13k miles for cheap yeah over 2g worth of parts for cheap that never happens…… just waiting for it to go backtogether I hope nothing else is fucked up! time will tell tell its only money right well i guess the joke is on me cuz that was an expensive mistake never mind the months its been in the shop!........ thanks again!!!
