so the mustang i am restoring has a 351 Cleveland that's going in it and i need some advice on what i should do to it. for sure I'm going to turbo it but I'm not sure if its going to be just one turbo or two..

i was also thing maybe converting it to fuel injected.. but someone i know suggested just throwing on a Holley 4 barrel carb.. but if its going to be fuel injected i was going to just install a Nos multi port wet fogger system.

along with all the internals that I'm going to have to change to handle the power

anywho, any advice or sites that may help with things would be awesome

thanks for looking smile.gif

Thats a good 335 forum,, if not *the*

I'd also say turbostangs.com

I don't know anything about turbos, just big N/A Fords.

carb'd is quick and easy but FI is much more efficient. if you do go injected, spend the money and go with the accell dfi setup. it is sooooo much more user friendly than fast system. also i would go with a single turbo over twins. if it needs rebuilding, you only have to rebuild 1 instead of 2. id go with a single 76 with like a .60ar hot side. big turbo, small exhaust. no turbo lag. instant spool. i had a gt47-88 with a t6 flange .69ar and that spooled like a bastard. you can easily make 1000hp with good internals and a 76mm turbo
roeder
id be happy with 1000hp biggrin.gif

whats your take on the nos tho dakota ?

What is your budget, out of curiousity.

HOLY SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Noone told me you were a real gear head!!!!!!!! I thought you were one of the cobalt fan bois who likes big subs and dumb mods!!!!

I have a buddy with a 67 fast back he just dropped an 86HO 351 into. Its a full roller motor with pretty decent internals for handling lots o power! I'm not sure the specs on your 351, but if its similar, then the comp ratio is 9.5 and ready to be boosted like a mofo!!!!!! You can run a bigger turbo like Glen (boosteddakota) said or you can go with a centri SC like the procharger. Its up to you. Either way, your looking at being able to some big nuts numbers. Granted thats based off the assumption of the two motors being similar. Post up some specs on the motor.

PSquare is a big block ford guy, infact I would shit to see him build anything anything else. Not that he cant, I just like watching a fish swing from tree to tree
BoostedDakota doesnt know anything and dont let his rediculous power levels fool you, his girl did the building for him firedevil.gif seriously he knows his power adders pretty well
Stangman_NB is the resident stang buyer, builder, and seller..... mostly seller LOL

and there are MANY more on here that know their shit pretty well. You need help turning wrenches and making things work, let me know!

lol nooo the balt is just my every day car that i like tinkering with.
besides, a lot of the ppl in the club have no idea i know more then "cobalt" lol. most just think thats all i do. but its not.. id say for my age i'm pretty mechanically inclined and i love learning new stuff and when i found the stang? oh mann i was happy as a pig in shit! lol
PSquare75
Depending on your power level you want *cough* A BBF would be WAY cheaper to build than anything with a turbo, single or not.
BoostedDakota
im not a nitrous guy but it is much cheaper than a turbo and there are some real nice kits out there these days
roeder
whats a BBF ?

nitrous is cheaper to start.... but you dont have to fill a turbo every time you want to go to the track smile.gif

ahh yes.. that makes sense lol.

well some good news (i hope) i found the back half of another 69 fastback in 6 foot high weeds! awesome isnt it ?
im sure its rusted to the core, but MAYBE there are parts on it i could use.
but im not going to get my hopes up for obvious reasons

also found out my camera is messed up so no pics untill i can "quietly borrow" my parents camera tongue.gif
Sully
wait a tick...... your restoring a 69 fastback? wtf? why am I just now finding this out. 69 fastback is the meanest looking muscle car ever IMO I fucking love them! Now you have to let me help turn wrenches!

oh and that 69 came with a BBF option so yeah its very doable!

and I have a really good camera for taking pics of mustangs smile.gif
roeder
lol i guess i should have posted what car the motor is going in
your more then welcome to help when i start on the motor, its goin gto be a while but ill let you know

i still need to rip the body apart and fix the mess the previous owner did with the back end.

ill try and have some pics of the cars tonight
roeder
ok here's another question.. can i use the intake manifold that's on there now or do i have to buy one specifically for the dfi ?

i have a milling machine and everything so I'm pretty sure i can do it myself but ive never worked on a cast intake manifold
BoostedDakota
well you can put injectors in just about any carb intake but its highly recommended that you have a experienced machine shop drill the intake so that they are the same depth and centered in the runners. most of the newwer intakes have raised dimples on them now so you know exactly where to drill for a fogger system or FI

? it was available with a 390 and 428 if i remember correctly. mine on the other hand came with a 351w.

and if want to say that 351c that's in that car cant be original because i think the 351c didnt see action until 1970.

oh and i would find information on making a "clevor" motor. takes the best parts of the 351c and puts them onto a 351w.
Sully
69 also had an available boss 429.... very limited production though

Troof.. Look what they had to do to get that engine in the car, Making a few hundred of them doesn't really count in my eyes as a full fledged production run. A production based 429/460 was never available in the 69-70 body style. It does fit, but it's tight.
