Full Version: Moving On Up... Maybe, Just Maybe!

So something told me to check Windmill cycles online inventory today after I got home from work. Right there staring me right in the face is the exact bike I have been wanting. Same color, year, and all.
A 2007 GSX-R 1000. Orange and black.. one of the more rare color combo's.
Knowing there was absolutely no way I was going to get another bike without being in the hole because I owe $2,000 more on my k7 600 than what it's worth, I went there anyways just to stop in and talk about the possibilities. I'm pretty friendly with the owner, anyways and I stop by time to time to check out the riding gear, etc.

So I walked in and immediately fell in love with the bike. Oh my goodness so clean. What looks like a voodoo exhaust, PC III, frame sliders, gel seat.. ugh!
Anyhoot I start bullshitting about the bike to the owner and pretty much said I am just looking at the bike without any possibilities of buying it because of my current bike loan. He agreed and said now was a bad time to get another bike.

So I was like "eh maybe I'll try to sell my car".
He started chuckling "why would you do that?, it's almost winter"
"Not my Daily Driver, my toy car", I said.
"Hmm, what kind of car?", He replied.
"A 97 TSi AWD", I said.

Immediately his eyes lit up, and he told me he has been looking for one of those for himself and we could work out a deal with trading in my bike along with the Talon. I told him the rock bottom I would take for the car and he seemed fine with it. Showed him a picture of it on my phone and he loved it. He gave me his home email to send him some more pictures tonight and I emailed them to him and got a response back within 5 minutes saying the car looks great and he will come to my place to look at it in person tomorrow. smile.gif

Ultimately, with both trade-in's I will have a lower loan than I have now on the current bike. I hate to get rid of the car but already having a Tundra and bike on the road leaves having the Talon pretty useless as I am becoming more in love with bikes and more out of love with cars, lately.

So hopefully I am not jinxing my chances by posting this but I just had to get the excitement off my chest lol.

BTW Nelson, If you are still interested in this exhaust for CJ's bike, now would be a hell of a time to buy it buddy. Maybe even the Bazzazz fuel management too, because I know having this crap on the bike isn't going to help my trade in cost any.

Teaser pic, although it looks 1,000,000x more beautiful in person!.. smiley_ninjakatanas.gif

So he came and looked at the car today, and he loved it. He agreed on giving me what I want for both the car and my bike trade in. So far, so good!

Looks as if it isn't going to happen. I was given a price of $8,995 when I originally looked at the bike and then was told $9,200 the other day and he would not budge on the price even $200. So I left him a voice mail at the office saying I was no longer interested in it last night. It's a gorgeous bike but I don't think it's worth anything more than $8,500. I'm a little pissed at the fact that they couldn't even cut me a little slack considering this would have been my second bike purchase from them.

So with that said I think I'm going to tear down the 600 this off season and throw a 750 into it. Supposedly they swap right in and can be had with low miles in the ball park of 700 bucks. I guess ultimately that will be the better route to go. I wont have the higher insurance of a 1000cc bike, and I get to keep the DSM at the same time. Maybe I'll paint my bike the orange/black color scheme too while I have the plastics off doing the 750 swap.
Stangman_NB
that sucks dude....

but good luck if you do the 750 swap that sounds pretty sweet!

I skimmed over your first post, but offering your car up for your absolute minimum price and your bike sounds like you'd get a slightly raw deal. Bikes depreciate fast so I would say keeping your bike, doing the swap, and keeping your car is a much, much smarter decision.

Too bad, that bike is pretty. Maybe you could do a paintjob on your current bike and be cool with it?
