Yamaha YZF-R6S

im kinda leaning towards the UM "United Motors"... Just wondering on what you guys would recommend.

Are you looking at new bikes? If brand new I would recomend the 600rr, been reading up on them and really am liking what I see.

That wasn't one of his choices lol.....if he is looking at 600's I def like the Honda and Nelson would automatically recomend the ZX6R but that's not an option either

why buy new when this is your first bike? Get a used one incase you dump it. Then once you comfortable get a new one if need be.

The Daytona 675 is absolutely gorgeous. Only thing I hated about my TT600 was that the aftermarket for them is small and expensive, nevermind paying dealer prices for their stuff.
Shift
Aug 29 2008, 08:40 PM
dealer price for a 675 is 8,999.. which is around same for all other bikes except the UM... the UM 650R is 6300 dealer

with what bikes cost, its really not a huge difference between new and used.

Yes I know this. But still I'd be ripshit if I dumped a brand new bike compared to an older on that has seen better days.

My friends with CBR's like them. Of course they ride mostly on tracks so it's getting a lot more use than you would on the street. I have no experience on one myself but I wouldn't kick one out of my garage. Resale value seems to be ok too.
I know you said you hate Suzukis, but I can't say enough good things about my SV650. I like it so much I'm looking for a second for a track whore.

They both have their advantages...and to be honest...I have never ridden a bike I did not like.
The r6 has an amazingly smooth transmission/throttle and a wider power band. The RR does not hit a good power band till you hit 8k, but that thing just loves to dive into the corners. I will say that the R6 is a much easier bike to work on, even for general maintenance.
The truth of the matter is that 99% of street riders will not be able to tell the difference between any modern sport bike, performance wise. The differences in performance and suspension are too small for an average rider to notice nor will you ever use 100% of its capabilities on the street. The differences in rear wheel hp are too small to make a difference to the everyday rider.
What it really comes down to is your personal preference. Styling and fit. Seat comfort (will you be using this bike for long distance?) or sleek seat (for body movement/racing).
Go to the shop, sit on each one and decide what
you like. Consider the seat height, the clip on positions etc. Make a choice that suits you and you will love either one.
