I had told a few people that I ws in the process of building a street stock car for Seekonk Speedway. Well after talking to my father and Ed and after actually doing a enduro race I came to realize that I am not yet ready for this level of racing. Needless to say I am back trying to build a Pure Stock Car. Me and my brother kenny are building cars for next year his car is a 77 Camaro and mine is a 87 Camaro.

I recentlly sold my monte carlo that I was builing which already had a cage in it in return I recieved a Full roll cage out of a 3rd gen camaro and other misc stuff.

My question is I have this cage complete and I was told to cut the roof straight off to install. Seekonk Speedway rules state that the cage must be moubnted to 8/8 plates of 1/4 inch steel which we have made. The tricky part about that is that this is a unibody car and I now this is going to create alot of flex in the car The doors will be off and the guy who I got the cage from said to just weld some supports in the doors? Does anyone have any suggestions for me in installing my roll cage. Thanks

Btw when I say complete i mean it was cut right out of the mounts on the old car and is completely welded together just needs to be welded to plates.

due to it being a uni body car, all you can do is weld the plates to the floor then weld the bar to the plates. depending on the point cage you put, it will not flex. my friend has a 10 pt cage in his t-top iroc and it runs 8's with no flex. this is a bolt in cage but you can see all the points on where it mounts and where the welds would be

you dont need to cut the roof off. there isnt going to be a headliner so you dont have to worry about burning anything. just measure and bend the bars outside the car and you will be all set

The cage I have was cut out of a car. so everything is welded together

so i can either cut the welds and reweld it in the car

or

cut the roof off and just drop in.

well whatever you feel like doing but yes, if you do cut the roof off weld some braces across the door openings
