my friend has an 87 camaro with the 305 tpi/5spd i told him not to buy it cause i thought it was a piece of poopy. it was running ok until about a day or 2 ago. when he starts it it doesnt want to idle. sometimes if he holds the throttle open a little ways it wont even run. then when were driving it the car stalls a lot. and sometimes when you are driving it the car bucks hard and will only go 10-15 mph with the pedal to the floor. now for the other issues that may or may not affect this issue but i think they are related. when he puts gas in the car he can sometimes put in a gallon or 2 of fuel. but then when he puts more fuel in it will only fill up the filler neck. we jammed a wire down into the tank and it went all the way in but no more fuel will go in. the guage has been stuck on full since he got it so im sure the pump/sending unit in the tank is bad. we know the tank isnt full because hes run it out of gas a few times and its currently got about 4 gallons in it. im trying to get him to buy a whole new tank/sending unit that i found on craigslist for 60 bucks and i hope that will help but was wondering what you guys thought.

im trying to find someone with the damn reader that will plug into the older style plugin so i can see what codes she throws. im assuming there are going to be a few of them. on my 84 olds all i needed to do was change the air filter and put a new vac line on the choke pulloff and my check engine light went off. funny thing is that my car is the only one at my house that doesnt throw a code and its the only one that doesnt need to be hooked to a computer for inspections.

if its tripping codes then all you need to do is get a paper clip if you want to pull the codes from the computer. There is a procedure online that explains how to do this. Itsd not hard and only takes about 10 minutes. Head over to thirdgen dot org there is a lot of info over there that will help both of you out.
