I spend a lot of time on craigslist and noticed that there are a lot of 92-95 turbo honda civics and everybody is asking $7000+ for them. Most of them the bodies aren't even all the same color. Are they worth it or are they all kids trying to get a million dollars for nothing? If they are I'm going to build a small fleet of them and retire!

IMO, not worth 7k considering that the turbo kits those kids buy are worth less than $1k through ebay or CL.
the car itself is probably worth a few thousand, plus a little bit of the work, but if it needs body work i wouldnt spend more than 5k, and it'd have to be in good shape, decent miles, and later model.

I don't want one for me. I was just wondering if people are really selling these things for close to what they are asking because as Jcat said the turbo kits are under $1000 and I can get the cars fairly cheap. If they are pulling in that kind of money I would build them just to resell.

not worth it and there's a reason that so many end up "stolen" insurance goes up because these morons have field days on these things when they realize they can't sell them for what they have invested.

definitely. think about it:
civic, running in decent shape: maybe 4k
turbo kit off ebay up to about 5psi: 800 bucks
install and tune at a shop: probably a grand
you're into it for 5800 at that point. If you can profit 1200 off a car that took a week to put together, you're doing alright.

I would do the install myself so all I would have to worry about is the tune and I have seen the 92-95 civics for as little as $1500 but you are right even if I pay $4000 for it I'll still make something. That is if people are really buying them for what everybody lists them for. I raced a turbo civic last week and it was like a little mosquito, i couldn't get the little bastard to go away it just stayed with me until I let off at 110 and he went flying past me.

Perfect example. They are cheap stock but once somebody throws a turbo kit at it they want a million dollars.
97 civic hx black with only 122k - $2200 (west greenwich)

^^Truth right there. Most of them are just beat on, not properly taken care of and generally a waste of money.
unfortunately that's what happens as cars get more and more affordable. It's happening with the Lexus GS's now, and obviously has happened with mustangs.
