Full Version: Recommend Me Some Brake Lines

Within the next month or two I'm planning on starting to stock up on parts that are going to be essential before taking the care with me to England.

I've looked up some brake line kits but I'm not sure which are good ones to go with, whose had personal experience with some, etc. I'm not sure mine are even bad but I'd rather get some stainless/braided lines in there.

I'm not really interested in upgrading rotors and calipers but are the stock sized cross-drilled/slotted rotors a worthwild investment? I've only done brakes once and that was to upgrade to also a dual-piston caliper which I think the GT already has?

Anyone think of anything else that might be worth it to upgrade/replace? I'm not really talking performance things right now, but I might get a meth injection set up on it when I come home and some gears. But right now I'm looking at inspectable items so I can make sure I pass the initial inspection when it gets checked out in England.

Brake lines are kind of a waste...not going to be that much of a difference. The most notible difference will be a good set of powerslot rotors and some Hawk HPS pads, NIGHT AND DAY difference in stopping power! Yes braided hoses are better than stock rubber, but you won't notice the difference it makes.

The GT has a single piston caliper stock, Cobras come with the dual-piston PBR caliper from the C4 Vettes.

Meth and some more boost would be a good idea, but don't go crazy with the gears; blowers don't like steep gearing.....3.55's or 3.73's at the MOST.

yeah i'm not expecting them to help performance wise, I just want to replace them to pass inspection when I get to England. Since they won't deteriorate, I want to get them on there.

I've been looking over at americanmuscle, just wanted to see if anyone had any particular experience with any brand or horror stories, etc..

Always used Russel.....never heard of a "bad" brand as far as this stuff goes.

x2 on Russell lines, I made up a set for my F100. Some people say as long as it reads DOT approved, but, I've never ever seen my brake lines 'inspected' when I go for a sticker, have you?

I'm not asking about state inspections.

but regardless, since there doesn't seem to be a bad set of stainless/braided lines, then I guess I got my answer.

I'd assume England has similar inspections. You might want to look into that.

Denmark, you aren't allowed to modify your car at all, No suspension drops, No aftermarket exhausts.. no different plug wires.. nothing. only qualified mechanics are even supposed to go under the hood, by law.

on the cobra i never changed the brake lines, but i had ceramic pads and brembo crossed drilled and slotted rotors with synthetic brake fluid...she would stop on a dime
