I think this is gonna happen in another month or so.. I was talking with my tuner about it and he has a D1 I could bolt on and try to see if there are decent gains on my car over the -2. Im gonna do the powerpipe and tune the -2 fully first and then slap the D1 on after for this comparo.. swap over the same 3.7 pulley currently on my car since its overdriven with the big crank anyway to keep that part constant.
any guesses as to what my car might pick up with it? in order for me to consider the upgrade of my head unit i would have to see another 30-40HP which I dont think is realistic but who knows really.

hmmmm it's a possibility but it's gonna be tough.....what's an upgrade cost ya on a set up like that?

CALLING CHRIS! WHERE YOU AT MONTE?!
Chris (MONTE) is essentially a procharger expert. I'm not just sure if you'd see 30-40 at the wheels with the same pulley going from p1-2 to a D1, far as I knew it used a larger exducer so a smaller pulley is advantageous.

the 3.7 would normally be a large pulley but with the overdriven crank it performs like a smaller pulley as far as boost.. if I can get 19lbs up top out of the -2 with it I should easily get around the same with the D1.. at least 15-16lbs for sure which won't be as hot a charge. I don't think I will pick up more than 20rwhp but who knows. trying it out is free so Imma give it a whirl to see what happens.

for sure, definitely worth the shot.

that was my longterm goal to go F1A from the -2. since I haven't been able to race the car for the last 2 years because of various things either not being completed or just short on money my plans have changed somewhat. this spring it'll be race this thing with what I got for the first time will the full on tune after the powerpipe is on. I'll see what she does and then determine from there whether I plan upgrades again or just put it up for sale and move on since I can't be at the track nearly enough to enjoy it fully anyway and its too much a beast for daily driving with a family now. I get the fever whenever I goto the shop but then the long wait to do anything to the car or hit the track makes my interests shift again.

I hear that! I finished my car and put like 200 miles on and now I have a smoking issue. But after talking to a few people I do believe its a valve seal. I have all new ones already since I planned on replacing them when the cams go in anyways but it still suck to have problems.

I thought I had everything well planned when I built the motor.. did the fuel system etc. the only thing I forgot to account for was the 8 rib swap which cost me a whole season of racing. This past year I get that done and find out my powerpipe is now a huge restriction but money gets super tight and I cannot afford a new pipe on top of the pulley swap so I have to settle for what I currently have until bonus time early next year.. at that point I hope I don't find any other restricting issues as I won't have the funds to do anything big and I'd really like to think the car is done and fully tuned and ready to finally make some passes/have fun after 2 years of disappointments of varying reason.

Like you said, the gains will be minimal. You will probably see a 1-3psi increase in boost resulting in the 20ish HP you guessed. The differences between the 2 impellers are that the inducer is .130 larger, and the exducer is .250 larger; both have the same snail and transmission. Can't hurt to try it especially if the guy will let you try the D1 for free; but it won't be worth the $1000+ to buy it.
As far as the power pipe, all of the aftermarket ones (Anderson etc) hit the hood and are 3.5". You should talk to Scott at SDCE, he makes a 4" pipe that does NOT hit the hood and only requires slight relocation of the radiator. His pipe also costs about the same as the Anderson piece.

I have a 3.5 WMS pipe that I've had since they started making them back in 04 (only Procharger pipe at that time) and it doesn't hit the hood at all. The Anderson pipe is supposed to be 4 inch and I'm sure I would have to cut down the rubber elbow some to get it to fit better. I would also have to modify it as I don't plan to recirculate my race bypass like I currently do so would have to seal up the bypass bungs. It might actually be better to just have a mandrel bent pipe done that I don't have to modify this way. Do you happen to have any pics anywhere of the pipe your talking about installed on a 99-04 that I could get an idea of what it looks like?

Go in the Ford gallery on their website:
http://www.sd-concepts.com/pages/cfVehicle...y.cfm?make=Ford There are a few cars that have versions of it....a grey GT, a yellow cobra, a red cobra, and a white Saleen clone. Browse around....i'm sure you'll like alot of the stuff!

resembles the AFM pipe for the most part.. what is the radiator mod that needs to be done? I think I am going to reroute my procharger tubing like those though under the framerail versus coming up through the fender hole so I don't have to cut out for the larger pipe.. Ive seen it done before on other procharger cars and will put it on my to do list for sure this time around. do you know if there is any additional piping needed to get that done?

chris and I spoke about doing this on my cobra before i sold it. He has to drop the passenger side of the radiator a couple inches so the pipe will clear the hood.
