My goal is 350rwhp. The stock bottom end can handle 425hp, so I don’t wanna get to close to blowing her up… yet. If I switch to Z32 rods, then the new goal will be 450 with spray. Time will tell lol. I’m starting off with a N/A VG30E. I like the N/A because it has higher compression. 9:1 compared to 7:8.
So far…..
I put her on a diet. Got rid of the A/C compressor, evaporator and all the plumbing. Also got rid of the Cruise Control (to clear some space & make her less cluttered). I got rid of all the floor mats, spare tire & tool-kit. I also tossed most of the speakers. I love the sound of a Turbo Engine.. I don’t need a radio. My goal is 2800 lbs with me in it.
The first thing I did was drain all the trans/diff oil and fill them with Mobile 1 & Lucas (75/25)
COOLING…..I tossed the clutch fan and added an electric with an adjustable thermostat , plus a plastic/aluminum radiator. 165 deg thermostat. I have a Gallon of Wetter-Water to help keep her cool.
INTAKE …. Added 24lb injectors, gutting the intake plenum, looking for a T3/T4 hybrid Turbo, added a adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator & Manual Boost Controller. Braided fuel lines all through the Engine compartment. I also made a 1” lower Intake spacer to give her a little more power & help reduce intake temps.
EXHAUST…. Not to much here. I ported the exhaust Manifolds & am going to wrap everything to keep the Engine compartment cool. The Turbo should reduce a lot of the Exhaust noise so I’m going to go with a Walker Dynomax Cat and a Cherry Bomb Glass pack
IGNITION . . Not to much to do here. I’m staying with NGK (the only plugs for a Nissan) Iridium plugs, but I’m going to Index them for max Ignition. MDS box, and 8.8mm wires.
HEAD . . This is the fun part. I’m porting & Polishing them myself. I have 2 sets incase I screw up lol I have all new springs/seals/valves ready to install.
What I need is a MAF from a 2000-02 Mustang cobra, 88-89 300zx Turbo ECU.
And ideas? Input? I welcome any technical suggestions.
