So I've been wanting OEM fogs for a while on the Alty, but to install the housings the bumper has to come off and once my lip and skirts go on I'm not gonna want to take the bumper off, I just know it. For a while I thought I wanted 3000k fogs but I was thinking the other night, that if I had 3000k fogs they wouldn't match my turn signals and my corner lights which would bother me immensely. So I got to thinking, and remembered there was a guy on nissanclub.com who did his "JDM" interpretation of a 2nd gen Altima since there is no overseas equivalent and he painted his corners and fogs orange. Now, I don't agree with everything that he has done but I kinda like this. I thought he used a film at first but it turns out it's a translucent paint similar to what people use to smoke their tail lights with. Now if I have fogs I want them to color match as this is the whole point of me getting fogs. If the color doesn't match my corners which already matches my turns then I won't do it and last I checked they don't make a yellow corner (bulb type 3157LL) and a yellow turn signal (3457LL). For those of you that are visual people here's the car that I'd be modeling this after. I will not be painting the corners, just the fogs.
Lights on:

Lights off:

Front view:

I think if I do this I'll be painting my turn signal as well so that there is some collaboration when the lights are off and the orange housings don't look completely out of place. Thankfully his brother has already painted his turn signals so I have a visual.

I've already asked a few of you about this via text message but I thought I'd rather get the opinion of the entire forum then just a select few. For those of you if any who want to paint your housings orange the paint being used is,

Ok, enough with the Junior bashing. He even made his own thread for it so bash him over there.

I went out and found the paint today. It only took me 3 different hobby stores. For anyone thats looking to do something similar in the RI area AA Hobbies on Jefferson Blvd and Apponaug Hobbies carry the Tamiya TS line, although Apponaug doesn't carry the clear orange.

So as soon as I can pick up a cheap pair of housings which a guy in CT supposedly has I'll be starting this. And when my tax return comes in I'll be picking up my skirts and lip from the shop. I just have one quick question about the wiring side of this. As far as I know I am not prewired for fogs. Does anyone know of any junkyards that have any 00-01 Altimas with fogs in them? The reason the year is so specific is because they changed the bulb type between 99-00 to an 881 so I need the female end of the fog wiring so I don't have to chop up the HID wiring where the bulb would plug into the harness. I plan on running these off of the parking lights btw.

Bumpity bump. Yesterday I sent the money for the housings so they should be here in a few days and today I went digging to check one more time if I was pre-wired and lo and behold I am.

So now I need to ask the seller if he has the stalk and relay as well because if he does this could be a one stop shopping trip.

I managed to get the turn signals done yesterday. The fogs and stalk came in the mail a couple days ago and I picked up the relay at NAPA as well.

I like it.
I think you should round it out like the black one
Just for future work, instead of trying to make masking tape into a circle, get that 1/8"- 1/4" wide tape, it makes so much easier to go in a circle with it in one piece vs several pieces. Then lay your wider tape around it and you will have a perfect circle, without all the little straight edge marks

Managed to get the fogs sprayed tonight. Should be getting put on Monday, weather permitting.
Starting out:

Three coats in:

Twelve coats of color and four coats of clear, AKA: finished product:

This is the color I was going for and I will be adding to my turns when I get a nice day to do so. Once again, TS-73 is the color being used. The color is a few shades lighter in real life for those thinking it may be to dark.

Yesterday was my second day back from vacation and I resprayed the turn signals and got the stalk installed.
Stalk w/ OEM fog switch:

Front View:

Right Side View:

Left Side View:

All that's left now is to wait for the HID's to come in and install the fog housings.
@ Hyland: When I was originally searching for this paint the only time I saw that someone had an issue with their fog housings was if they had used a film with a halogen bulb. If they used paint with HID or halogen no flaking or burning occured. I won't be able to give a report on the halogens though since when these get installed they will be with HID's.
EDIT: For some reason the first two pic's aren't coming up full size. I dunno why.
