yup
Stangman_NB
fuckin unbelievable car...I would def buy one if I had let's say...Tasca money!
bonnEVIL
just to race it? you cant drive it on the street, for a number of different reasons.
Stangman_NB
when you have "Tasca Money" you also have dealer and repair plates.....you drive that car wherever you like.
bonnEVIL
without mirrors and other daily car equipment? sounds dangerous.

and then if you add the equpiment its a 110k mustang.
Stangman_NB
if you have 108k to spend on a car....what's another 2k? wink.gif

If I had a 109k on a car I wouldn't be buying a mustang lol.gif
jcat
theyre built as purpose-built race cars, designed to be able to run in the NHRA and be competitive, and also as a base foundation for someone to mod it up on their own.

It is NOT street legal. Even with a dealer plate it CANNOT be driven on the street as cars with dealer plates on them must still be titled and have vins, and be registerable.
MARK
id drive it on the street. who gives a shit. like nelson said, if you have money you can get out of anything.
bonnEVIL
you cant get out of death.
BoostedDakota
109?? you can buy them for like 70k

what does that have to do with anything? you always this negative and have to be a know it all?
Junior
gayer than a bucket of aids
bonnEVIL
no side mirrors, blinkers, or wipers.

its just common sense that its dangerous to drive on the street, has nothing to do with knowing anything really.

x2. they go for i think 75-80 direct from ford racing. That one appears to have been modified a bit, but without many more details it's hard to say it's 29k modified.

Also just noticed. This is a 2010 model. There are only 50 built. This is number 49 of those 50, the second-to-last. That's where this guy thinks the extra value is coming from.

It's a sub 10second factory built race car, basically. Never intended for the street. The 75-80k price tag for a car thatll run 9.50's all day in NHRA stock classes is on the cheaper end, as I'm sure glen will agree as he has more knowledge than I do.
Stangman_NB
From my understanding they CAN be equipped with lights and the such....think about it. Th epeople that these cars were offered to are people that are into the automobile business, specifically big name racers and auto dealers. These are people that have more money than any one of us could ever even imagine. Do you think a few k to add mirriw and lights is going to stop them? I understand this car isn't made for the street BUT dealer plates and repair plates get you out of a lot of shit. When and if you get pulled over on a dealer or repair plate, a cop more than likely isn't going to be checking for a VIN or an inspection sticker or shit like that....hell when a car is being sold at a dealership they don't even need an inspection sticker yet wink.gif

Still gay to me. Not even that its a mudstain.. if it was a camaro I would say the same thing.

Gay to you because you don't have the cash to buy it Josh. You look at it as something that's overpriced and useless to you. Like I said before cash is king. For someone that can afford that, the money is pocket change. They can buy it, race it or even let it sit in their oversized garage so people can drool over it. Hell I have model cars in my house that cost almost $100 bucks just so people can look at them as they sit in a frikkin cabinet....$100 bucks ain't cheap to me, but I bought them because I enjoy them. Kind of the same thing with this Cobra Jet but on a much larger scale.
hsssss
Cant you
Buy a TASCA built Cobra? I think its better then the
FRD-

version..might be cheaper too
PSquare75
You guys are approaching this all wrong.

I bet $20 this car is going in a museum, and is being bought as an investment in a crappy economy. Judging from other factory built race cars sold on the street (Thunderbolts, first gen Z28s, Cobra R cars, Superbirds, Talladegas, Dodge Charger 500s) I think he'll be fine 30 years from now.

I agree...too many of these cars end up being stored in someones garage as a toy. Kinda like what I stated about my model cars except this will go up in value unlike my toys doh.gif
hsssss
Its like the 1995 Cobra R or the 2000 R, what makes this car better is only said 50 built, It will end up in some rich guys house along with 50 other 1 off and limited editions...The thing is a TASCA built Corbra With FRD Parts would also make the car Like the Yenko or the Mr Norms car of the past, What i was saying you could get it cheaper and in 30 years time be a well sort aftered car....
Marc Letourneau
I still like it, Really cool concept. I didn't know they still had Cobra Jet as an option.
Zack
Last year I was up at NE Dragway on one of the reserved wednesdays with my boss and his uncles car and Tasca was up there with one of their Cobra Jets. We got talking to them and they said they were getting 11 million from Ford to for the next 10 years to be driving the CJ.

I drive around with no wipers, mirrors, reverse lights, etc... Dont find it dangerous to me!.......also fuck blinkers....no one see's you using them anyway....Look nice for a ford product. Something I cant afford now.
BoostedDakota
and the best part, whats it run? 10's you can build a 8 second car that you can actually register and drive for half the money. it is a nice car but its a waste of ANYONES money

thats still the ford racing cobra jet. Tasca's cobra jets are just GT's with superchargers (they were using saleen units but may be using whipple now? idk.) and intake/header/exhaust type of deal. But, they'll definitely build you one of their cobra jets, easily competitive with one of ford racing's cobra jets probably for a little less.

I can give two craps if I dropped dead tommorow and if other drivers have an issue with it, let them walk..
Zack

I don't see anything different between this and one of Fords Cobra Jets. And the fact that Ford is paying Tasca 11 million for ten years makes me beleive that Tasca is running the Ford CJ500's

tasca IS running the ford racing CJ cars. That's the 05-09 version. the one in the ebay ad is a 2010. See that name on the back? Dennis Gomes? He's the tuner and head of the performance division at tasca. Kid's a freakin genius when it comes to tuning cars. Steeda actually purchased his program for the Fusion v6. Tasca DOES NOT produce their own CJ500 cars, but they do make their own 'cobra jet' which is just a modified GT.

That pic above looks like a whipple supercharger, I thought they were out of business.
LSRengineering
It is a whipple and I dont think so.

no matter what, its not worth anywhere near that much money. im sorry. 1st, 10's is not fast for 80k. 2nd 80k is worthless for something that slow that you can only use at the track. thats just how i look at it

those cars run 9.50s all day long exactly as they come from the factory....

obviously if you buy like a notch roller for a grand and put 15k into a motor, and another 10k into suspension/cage/etc., you're only in 26k and running stupid times, but it's not about that.

Like i said. The only reason they're as expensive as they are, is the rarity.
LSRengineering
Those cars DO NOT run 9.5's from the factory, shit they come factory DE TUNED to 450hp.

nope. wrong. believe me, i spend alot of time at tube chassis which is who does all the work on carl tascas cj's. talked to him there. they run 10.30-10-50 which is slow for 80k

if you spend 26k on a fox to run 9's your doing something very very wrong. ummm stock suspension drag radial cars run 6's so no money spent on suspension, cage=3000 maybe, and you can build a sick boosted sbf for way under 10k

im 99% sure they have lights because you need some form of light to night race or you cant race.
jcat
^^ I'll trust your word Glen, I don't really know much about it.

But the fact still stands true. They're only being produced 50 at a time. That makes them very rare and hard to get. The ratio of people who HAVE the money and WANT the cars versus how many cars there ARE is very high. Therefore, they demand a high price. Highest values go to first and last of production, and get exponentially lower the closer you get to the middle of the run.

They're going to go crazy on the '11 models i'd imagine, now that the 5.0L is coming back. These run the 5.4 currently, which are in the GT500 tuned down to make 500hp.

In coming out with a 500hp GT350, I wouldn't be surprised to see the GT500's pushing more like 6 or 7, and then the CJ cars will get even more than that.

Getting a 9.5 car to hook isnt easy either.
