Advanced suspension talk.

Interesting. I wonder how much this translates to 'non-knob' shocks.. I.E. Bilstein's Konis, etc are the way to go? Never realized even within brands of the same shock there was so much variability.

I know that you can have bilstiens re-valved to match your spring rates, hell you could do it yourself if you posses the knowledge. As for the non-adjustable koni's I'm not sure. He did touch on the downside of koni's, only koni can rebuild them, so I'm not sure if Koni would be willing to do that for you. I don't see why not thou dunno.gif

Right, but what I got from this article is that if you took 10 'identical' Bilsteins and tested them they'd all be 'the same', while 10 'brand x' shocks, it's a crap shoot?

Yea that's my understanding as well. It's the same with koni's. I've seen people talk about that over on maxima.org and found it odd but I guess it wasn't bullshit. Now only if bilstien or penske would make an application for my car lol

I've got Bilstein cop spec shocks in my white Cougar, and to be honest I find em a bit stiff. I might swap em into the gray car which is basically a crown vic cop car with 'typical' cop sized tires... big sidewalls take up a bunch.
Nrw
Is the cop spec spring any different than what you have on there?
PSquare75
Close enough for govt work.. The cop spec spring was the stiffest you could get OEM, but the previous owner of mine got big block springs for an older car and cut em down a bit. Anything will be better than the loosey goosey rattle I get now smile.gif

Good article, though parts of it were admittedly over my head.

The results are great...assuming you are a person who is able to afford Konis, Bilsteins, or *gulp* Penskes. It guess this is another "you get what you pay for" occurrence.
