I have a question for anyone out there, Has anyone ever heard of an aftermarket exhaust system causing engine failure? Such as lack of back pressure? Someone mentioned this on another board and it made me curious.
LSRengineering
Nope, never. I run open headers all the time and never a hiccup.
Stangman_NB
no it won't cause engine failure....without properly tuning for it, the car can lose performance but won't die lol
MARK
never once heard of engine failure? who is your source so i can slap him.
Marc Letourneau
The reason I ask was because of this...

Marc Letourneau
I figured that, But I knew asking wouldn't hurt. The dealer must be screwing that guy around.

never take what a salesman says as pure truth.
Marc Letourneau
I agree.

so anywho when you buying the pedders street stage 2 suspension kit? smile.gif
Marc Letourneau
Hm soon.. biggthumpup.gif Todd wants me to get the Magnacharger big time.
Nrw
I'd go centri over roots, you got enough low end with that v8 lol
Marc Letourneau
Magnacharger will put me back about 6,800 and void my warranty. It will be a long time before I get to that. However the suspension is a different story.
Hondo
my exhuast makes my car run like shit, well that, the test pipe, bpv, sri. access port... yea.
LSRengineering
Yeah but turbo cars are much more sensative towards that Hondo.

Spohn makes some euspension stuff for the G8 as well. Always top notch stuff.

Marc Letourneau
Quality is always my top priority. Never heard of Spohn before.

spohn is big in the fbody world. From some reading I've been doing I've been liking this pedders stuff. I know whiteline makes some good products too.
Marc Letourneau
A few guys are using Pedders on the GRRR8. I never really asked them how they like it. I should get on that.
God damn this is an expensive hobby.

One of my teachers seems to beleive that running just a straight pipe will melt your exhaust valves.

It can on a cold day if the cold air hits the valve once its shut off. Seen it happen before.
LS6rally
I call BS^^ i cant see somthing melting from cold air hitting it when its hot. maybe crackin a valve due to the temp. shock but not melting
Marc Letourneau
Melting? Sounds unlikely, Cracking sounds plausible.
