If someone has some sort of legal background to decipher some of the laws and regulations as far as building and zoning a track, let me know. I'm trying to put a packet together.

I think the car clubs in New England should do our own News story on how we do Positive things like car shows or cruise nights with the proceeds going to sick children or other charities, Its seems when they(News Channels) do a story on one car club or street racing they forget how it impacts the rest of car clubs...
I say get somebody with credability do a Documentary on a few clubs around the area and make a short film on the Positive side...then post it on you tube and or other Media outlets.

im with that too!

im willing to help, especially since its summer .

think a few videos sent in to the news would be cool, or get a big enough meet (that would donate proceeds to a charity) and try and get them there.

and to add... i know everyone is all about drag racing... bout what about a different kind of track, like one of those touring tracks or what ever they are called. get some drifting, karts, motorcycles, cars and somewhere have a drag strip integrated into it. i feel that a drag strip is so limited.

I am all about a track in the area. I fully support it and so does RIDSM. However, and maybe this is my years speaking now, or cynical-ism showing...I just want to let you trying for this know, that your time is being wasted.

You aren't the first person to think of this. You won't be the last. You aren't the first person to have this approach in mind. You aren't the first to have this much enthusiasm and positive thinking.

That being said, you won't be the first person to be shot down in flames over it.

We had a meeting with city councils with these petitions in the past. We made our case, we had people in the industry supporting our cause. We had facts, pure facts. It didn't matter. We were all but laughed out of that meeting.

It was said quite clearly to these residents and bureaucrats that failure to act would just mean more people illegally racing on their street, rather than legally racing down the street. They didn't want to hear it. They want to believe that every time a street race starts the cops are right there and busts every one and no one guilty or innocent dies.

That said, expect more of the same from idiot America. Good luck, but don't get your hopes up, it only makes the fall more painful.

The local strip here is just for drag racing but to help pay the cost,he also does outdoor concerts, bike rallies,Harley drags,.Just about anything you can think of for outdoors.
People come from out of state for the Harley drags, only draw back is the Banditos Bike club run the event...Support your local Bandito..woot woot. lame.gif
Anyway my point is.
If you could get enough people interested and willing to donate, you could have a track built and offset costs using it for other events besides racing.
The track itself doesn't need to be anything impressive...concrete launch pad with concrete retainers ,asphalt racing and shutdown area and safety barrier.Thats where all the money is.Outside of that the place can grow as the profits grow.
If there are so many people interested, then all it needs is someone to organize the effort.
Just a thought.....
