So I finally got to putting that R1 Throttle tube on tonight. and i must say, that grip glue is the biggest PITA in the world! so i used one little dab and a lot of hair spray.

but to continue ... i figured i would be smart and loosen the throttle cables near the air filter box on my bike. and now i could use some tips/suggestions on putting it all back together just right.

I got it so it would snap back finally, but it doesnt make as loud of a noise (if you would) as it used to when it made that snap back. Its still there, but not as loud....is that a problem?

and how do i make it so i have that little play with the throttle?....err.... that little area that you are able to move the throttle a little bit with out it moving the RPMs.... i really cant explain any of this.

if the tube was sticking or not snaping back sounds like u loaded the grip up twith to much glue and it spewed out all over the place. grip glue is like rubber cement.... dont get it all over the place.

also when you put your new tube on did you lubricate it? If you didnt pull it apart and load the tube up with some graphite. DRY LUBE. re connect everything. Turn your front end from left to right while the bike is running and make sure the rpm's do not increase. If they do your cable is bound and or to tight. If it runs like shit at idle adjust the throttle cable.

if this doest fix it try explaining th problem a little better. This is the best I could do with the info u gave

well i tired to use the glue, didnt really work so i used mostly hair spray with a little glue. nothing spewed out or anything. i put it on the tube while the tube was off the bike.... figured i would be able to fix it faster/easier with it off.

there was that lube on the bars already, i didnt really touch it.

like i said it snaps back, but that snap back clik noise doesnt sound as loud.

it runs fine, i took it out for a ride late last night. the response was insane! so there isnt any real issues. its just me wanting it to sound/play/twist like how it used to - i guess. and im not sure if i can get that to go back to that just because its not a GSXR tube.

and one more thing, the bolts on the throttle cables seem like they would come loose after a few rides. eveytime i try and tighten them it seems to make the throttle stick. any info on that?

im downloading the service manual now, hopefully that will shed some light.

i got it perfect now.
kinda sucks the R1 throttle tube is shorter than the GSXR. had to cut my grip a bit. kinda looks tacky, but does the trick. its funny going 30mph with out really moving my hand now. but im getting used to it. makes it a little easier on my wrist too, and the power wheelies are easier.
