So I saw a commercial for the new super duty (that thing is butt ugly!). It said it had the most towing, power, and gas mileage. This is the site Ford makes to show it's Ford advantage . http://www.fordvehicles.com/trucks/superduty/compare/ They compared a 3500 to everyone elses 2500!!! The price is the cheapest but look at the options. It comes with everything optional that GM and Dodge come with standard!!! What's this Ford advantage?

Why do they use the locking hubs? Chevy doesn't use them any longer and the 4WD is fine.

Dodge doesn't either. Only Ford.

When the stupid automatic 4wd vacuum hose develops a leak, and your truck i buried up to the rocker in mud.. it help to have locking hubs. .

They are electronic now. When you are out in the wind blown snow stuck in a ditch you don't want manual hubs you want to hit a button.

My Dad's '04 F250 isn't. My post was from experience Knob on the dash somehow connected via vacuum. (which failed). He ended up just popping the center caps off and locking the hubs for the winter.

IMO Automatic Locking Hubs suck. Atleast the early ones did. My sisters Sonoma probably is gonna need a new front differential after the hubs got stuck halfway in and wouldnt unlock. Electronics are prone to failure, and I hate how they put so much electronics on vital parts. Then when you have a problem it can be any of the 2-50 electrical parts involved.

Actually, it was a good thing it had manny hubs under there. Otherwise the truck wouldn't have made it up my parents driveway all winter.

they both have their pros and cons. sure the button is easier. but things break. not a bad idea to have both.
