Full Version: Memorial Day
Rekless Racing > Rekless Lounge > Rekless On Topic Lounge

Today is a day to honor those who have sacrificed to make the world a better place. Take time today so say a prayer for those who have given their lives, as well as those who made it home but live in their own personal hell, and those who are still today fighting for peace. Ask whichever god you please to grant peace to their souls, the same peace they have worked so hard to bring all of us.

"Heroism is latent in every human soul – However humble or unknown, they (the veterans) have renounced what are accounted pleasures and cheerfully undertaken all the self-denials – privations, toils, dangers, sufferings, sicknesses, mutilations, life-long hurts and losses, death itself – for some great good, dimly seen but dearly held."

~Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain

Here in the Rekless family allone there are those who have fought, are fighting, and even some who may end up fighting for us.

I cant think of every member on here so please add those peoples names to the list so that everyone knows who close to them to add to their prayers

Everyone loves the long weekend we all get but it pisses me off when some of them just think of this day as a free day off. I heard a Home Depot commercial on the radio that said " this Memorial Day weekend is about getting thngs done in the yard. Its about catching up on things around the house." BULLSHIT. its about the men and women of our armed forces that made and still make it possible for you and I to have the things wehave today. I was very pissed when I heard that commercial.

I agree thats bullshit. Its not a free day off and the point of Memorial Day is not about getting things done.

Also a day to be reminded of the men and women who have lost their lives protecting your neighborhoods and houses.

List updated thanks brad

Just to shine some light on a less discussed topic. Disabled vets. There are far too many vets who have come home, and had issues you cant see. We all make room for the guy in a wheel chair, or hold the door for the guy with a prosthetic leg and a cane. But there are people you would never suspect are vets who are living with disabilities you can't see. The guy at the Chinese restaurant with PTSD who every time someone gets to close to him has to leave. The girl lying in bed next to her husband who cant shake the feeling of being under attack. While everyone will agree that giving your life for freedom is the utmost of patriotism. I would like to point out these others who were able to make it home, but live in their own personal hell. People whos families dont have to grieve their loss, but instead learn to deal with a family member constantly being chased by demons.
