Saw that on the news this morning. Some people shouldn't be allowed on the road. Why the fuck would you race with a 2year old in your car?

seriously. a 17 yr old girl racing an 18 yr old boy, who has a 2 year old in the back seat. then we wonder why our nations education system is declining and the English language is slowly turning into a system of l3ters and #'s...

This isn't racing.. Racing has a start and finish. This is speeding. Two cars passing illegally which is why she said lane infraction. People have been street racing since the inception of the motor vehicle. Every generation has done it since the 50's. What you have here are stupid people, with serious lack of skill or knowledge. Messing up and then the news using street racing as a scape goat. Street racing is unseen unheard and comes and goes with the night. Don't group these complete idiots with Car Enthusiasts. There are no kids in back seat, or passing motorist. Just us. Only us.

They were not street racing. They were two teenagers who made a bad decision to "race" (aka: drive fast) to get where they were headed. I do not believe the parent of a 2yo would say, "hey, I'll race ya!" And the comment about going "fast and furious" pisses me off. This perception and relation to a stupid f***ing movie has all eyes on true automotive enthusiasts. "drag race"?? Why was it a drag race? Because you said so??? Maybe they were just teenagers being stupid! My best friend died in a crash when he was 21. He was in the car with a 17yo driver. The accident was said to be caused by the car going in excess of 80mph when it hit a tree. Did they talk about "Fast and Furious"? NO! Did they call it a "drag race"? NO! It was on the news as a 21yo Male died in a car crash after the car had hit a tree. What's changed? That accident was long before the movie. Thanks Paul Walker! btw, you suck as an actor!

i drive with passengers in the car if i do "race" but only because they have done the same thing. they become my "rally" driver and look ahead to the lanes with openings so i can pass and go. but if i have my gf's son in the car, its 65-70 on the highway no matter what. end of story. this is just disgusting

Maybe I'm off base. But it makes me think about Seekonk Speedway having a thrill show on the same night. I haven't been to that many, but alot of assholes think they have a racecar when they leave there. Maybe after watching the spectator drags, they thought " hey we can do that."

I got a friend from autox who was accused of street racing after hitting and killing a woman on the street. He's in jail now. Not sure whether or not he was actually racing.. but all I know is nobody wants to be even close to the position that he's in. I've since been really careful about how I drive now days on the street especially backroads.

That sucks, It's really not worth the gamble. I wouldn't want to be stuck in jail because of something stupid like law enforcement accusing me of street racing when I really wasn't.

when is the next big meet. Someone should invite the news and get interviews with enthusiasts instead of wannabe street racers.. Think they go to the classic or American muscle shows asking about street racing? Do they Blame those guys for having kids like us who continue the hobby.. No. They (media/police) just come down on us cause we're easy inexperienced targets and there's always bound to be some immaturity in the groups that gather.

The stories they put on the news are meant to get the older generations incited. The local community that votes for city and state reps. The Reps will then introduce a bill that purportedly will fix such a problem and then use that to gain votes during re-election. If you pay attention to you local gov't you'll see that they are just mini versions of fox/cnn/msnbc in their bias outlook of the local gov't.

In fact, I would be willing to bet there are people on this forum, female and male that think they can performance drive well and cannot.

On the other hand, I hope the drivers die. Yes, I am that cold. I kissed my son and held him extra tight that night knowing it wasn't me or his mother doing that with him in the car.

I thank God for blessing me with enough sense to not drive like that when he is around. Heck most of the times he is not around I don't drive like that so I can be sure to go home and hug him some more.
