so my winter car / semi dd saab has been down for a few due to what i thought was a blown head gasket. my symptoms were not holding boost and just overall lack of power and smell of burnt coolant.
so i dug into the car and found the problem in like 4 seconds flat.... seriously.
back in febuary my stock turbo blew. so i got a used one from a viggen, its ever so slightly bigger. it bolted up fine and nothing changed, except for the coolant feed line. was a little different and had a secondary feed for something thats on the viggens thats not on mine that i had to cap off. well to make a long story short. the new coolant feed pipe ended up rubbing against the hard aluminum, pipe that rins from the intercooler to the throttle body. once it got hot enough it slowly wore a hole in the hard pipe. which explains my boost leak and lock of power. i also found a pinhole leak in the coolant line where i welded it, which was just by change shooting into the hard pipe so i never saw traces of a leak. and also is why i smelt burning coolant. well they dont make after market pipes for these cars. at least none that im willing to have shipped over from sweeden. and the factory replacement costs a ton, so im fabing up my own and moving the coolant line a bit. hopefully it solves my problem.
