so about two weeks ago I left work early because i had the bike and there was a big rain storm moving through. on my way home i saw a friend of mine who invited me to go play frisbee with a few other friends. so i went home changed and joined them. i was on the sideline warming up, throwing a ball with a friend when i slipped on the edge of a hole. there was a very loud snap and i went down hard. at first i thought i dislocated my knee, but soon realized it was something much worse. so i took a nice trip to the hospital, turns out i ruptured my patellar tendon (the one that connects the knee cap to the leg). the even better part is that June was the one month my insurance from my old job lapsed and my new coverage didn't start till July 1st.

well to make a long story short, i had knee surgery last Thursday, July 1st, all went well. the doctor said my tendon looked like the end of a mop, so i did a good number on it. im in a brace where i cant bend my knee at all for anywhere from 4 to 6 weeks, then i can slowly start PT and bend my knee again. i wont be able to drive any car until i can bend my knee again, enough to get in the car and not have my foot always on the pedal,,, (being 6 feet tall has its disadvantages.) and it will be a few months until i can drive my own car again as i will have to rebuild the strength to press and hold the clutch. and as for riding motorcycles, the doc seems to think i wont have enough strength in my knee to catch and support the weight of a motorcycle until at least December, so my riding season is over too.

Sucks to hear. Knee injuries suck, I've had a few but nothing to the level.

dammnnnn. hope you feel better fast. sounds jussst like me. i sprained my ankle and tore all sorts of ligaments in my foot & all with no insurance! no walking, driving or anything for a month & a half already..sucks hardcoreee. i miss driving! Goodluck

that sucks. twisted my knee once skiing, some of the worst pain I had ever been in. luckily I didn't break/tear/dislocate anything, but it felt like I had.

Hope you heal up quicker than they expect.
