Any one know any places, aside from Maaco, that offers cheap painting? i just want a fresh coat of paint on my car and to cover up the body work

Please remember you get what you pay for... I mostly know all the body shops in the Worcester Area. Josh would be a good person to talk to.. Or Brad, But he doesn't come on often.

im no expecting much. i figure if i can prep it and have some stuff taped over.anything would look better than it does now. seems like the back half of the car was left outside and the front half was under a garage.

Speaking about shops.. Providence Auto body has an ad on the radio saying they don't ever use aftermarket parts, Yeah that's a bullshit lie. They order it under another account, And the trucks are told to park behind the building..
Sorry to jack this, But I figured you guys should know this.

and to continue this...
who the hell would care if they use aftermarket parts or not? what is the reasoning behind that?

Most people don't like aftermarket parts because they don't always fit, or they don't last. The quality isn't there like an OEM part. I sell aftermarket parts and I wouldn't want them on my car..

As Marc said. Some don't fit quite the same.

well there are some good quality OEM parts, but i have had my share of those OEM parts, like recently my fuel rail was spewing gas all over my engine.
and i can say the same about aftermarket parts.
i dont know, i just kinda feel that a company shouldnt market that they only do OEM parts, should offer both.

Aftermarket body panels suck. I've yet to see one that actually fits out of the box with out any issues.. or with metal REMOTELY as thick as the OEM piece. CAPA approved, maybe, but most shops will try to pull a fast one and use a taiwan hood that dents if you stare at it too hard.

It's all the insurance companies, They think they can get away with using them.. If they ever pulled that shit on me I would drive the car through their building.

Just blast it in the yard if it's not top quality your after. I've done it in the past with a tarp for a spray booth. I see your not too far from me let me know if you need a hand.
As for the afore mentioned shop, I was an insurance adjuster for 10 years, if that was the worst thing they were doing I would have been a happy guy.

Providence auto body is the biggest auto body scam in rhode island and everyone knows it.
If you want a good size insurance check, get your quotes there. Thats it.
I wish i knew someone who paints. MAACO tells you a price, but then finds everything under the sun to charge you for. Prep, sanding, body work,..

The maaco $279 special gets you 1 hour of body work and tape work and paint lol. Prep the car yourself, remove interior/lights/etc, tape it up yourself have the car towed there. The Maaco in Fall River does fairly decent work.. just do the grunt work yourself.

If you're confident in doing prep work do it, most of the actual outcome depends on the prep...Ask shops about shooting a basic one stage paint job(metallics usually suck in one stage of course), not too sure what color you car is and such, looking for jambs etc?

prep is everything.... but dont settle for bad paint just to save money, you'll end up doing it often.

i really dont know how much i want to spend. but the more i have to spend the longer im going to have to wait to get it. but i just want the outside painted, nothing inside. i can do all the sanding + taping myself. i have a good portion of the body work done. im just going to wait to pull the dings till when i know when i can get the car painted.
