i'm changing my oil and i cannot get the friggin oil filter off. i put it on myself last time and it seems i've weakened since then because i cannot get this thing off....anyone know anything i can do to get it off?

i was going to but i don't own one. i know my uncle does but he's not home. i went by his house and looked in his garage but i couldn't find it

Stick a scredriver through the center of the oil filter (all the way through side to side) then you can use to to turn the filter.....just make sure you get it all the way through at a strong spot so it doesn't just shred like a tin can

lmfao... well i got it to come off thanks to msmonte and nelson and there screwdriver but i did cut my finger on the shredded tin can it became but not completely off. thanks for the info guys. took me 15 minutes to change it last time... took me about 3 hours to do it this time because of that god forsaken piece of aluminum.

I have never used the screw driver method. All I have seen was them rip through the filters.

those don't always work. I had a case with my car that whatever lube shop put the filter on it was way over tightened. The only way to get it off was to use the screw driver method.
