the weather is actually getting really good for going to the track too. nice and cool at night but warm enough to keep the track nice and sticky.

in all honesty i love it. we do it at about 1 or 2 am when theres no one on the highway so the only people we are endangering is ourselves. theres nothing in the world quit like that rush you get of going 130 on a public highway. yes i know its stupid and all that but its what i enjoy doing.

Is there even street racing in New England??

Coming from Miami you could go out to a meeting spot with 50-100 other cars hang out talk with other people about their cars, then set up a race if you wanted. Go 5 mins down the road get some runs, come back and talk Bullshit whatever.. keeps everyone safe because at the meeting spot theres not any racing going on so they cant hit you with witnessing racing.. and unless the cops see the car mid race they wont catch you racing.. and even if they do see you racing, they are going in the other lane and need to whip a U-turn by then the cars are usually gone... I dont know just doesnt seem like its that organized here.

But it was great down there to go around and check out tons of different cars. I wouldent even race really but it was just cool talking to people about their setup taking pics and the fact that it happened 2-3 times a week with cars always there.. made it even better.

usually saturday nights in new bedford was pretty hot for racing but the cops have cracked down pretty hard. once in a while we go to brockton to the mall and race off a light there. its around you just gotta find it!!
J Kellz
yeah there are some select spots in RI that still run
ohsosikcivic
I used to do it some times... but really its not worth the money... ur throwing it down the drain. make a track appointment. so everyone can see them lose

street racing is fun u just have to know when and where to do it. honestly ive been racing for almost 8 years on the street and what kills the fun and causes problems is the young kids who think they know how to drive, start fooling around on side streets and major highways doing 120 in and out of traffic, thats what ruins it for the older guys. like alot of the other guys will tell you we shut down the highways to drag race we dont go in and out and between cars to prove whos faster.
BryanH
Maybe if it was more organized and didn't consist of younger immature kids it wouldn't be so bad. But that situation just doesn't exist. So I don't do it for the same reason that I wouldn't go out egging cars. I wouldn't want street racing taking place when I'm out with my gf and her 5 year old daughter.

A local track would be nice to have. The NED isn't really that far away. We're just spoiled here in new england with everything being close by. People out in the middle of the country drive 2 hours to get a gallon of milk.

Drag racing at NED and autocrossing at Fort Devins are two low budget types of racing we can legally do around this area. I don't understand why more younger people don't take advantage of these things. Lots of newbies seem to have an insecurity about doing shitty on their first day. No one is going to laugh at you. Everyone sucks at first. The purpose of going is to learn and get better and have a good time.

i use to do it all the time back in the day till i got arrested for it and at that time i was not even racing go figure it was when fall river had its big crack down a bunch of us were it the lights were mobil was and now there is a wallgreens there besides the point just setting a landmark and me and krieg were in the front light turns green one the cars in back of use starts to spins his tires and boom were surrounded like a swat crack down but with out the swat of course and after all the fine i had to pay i swore to myself not to do it again track only....

Street racing is not cool today, too many cars, cops, laws and just plain shitty roads... not safe in any way...(Im an old street racer from years back) I wish there was More tracks around so people could get their "Need for speed" fix scooter.gif

It's time RI got a track. It's the only state in the country without a track. Granted it will only hold a 1/4 mile oval, but still.

Street Racing : Ok
Track : Ok
Sex: Awesome

I say stick with sex.. if you're partner is awesome she'll let you try and go for the fastest e.t. every now and then haha.

Keep to the track or plan your street event well enough where you'll decrease the odds of killing someone.

i ve ben their once before...my buddy ran there a few years back with his 75 Buick..its in the middle of a farm, 15 cars ran the day i was there,And yes its Dirt track with goats and chickens and a few hundred people watching cars go around a 1/5 track lol.gif

i feel like the track system is a little flawed think about it the majority of people who street race are kids. it costs 20 dollars to go to the track plus gas. not everyone can afford that 20 bucks so what do they do street race. I fell like in order to keep kids off the street there needs to be a track that charges students 10 to 5 dollars to run that way it will some what cut down on it. I feel that another big factor is we live in NE land of the shitty weather so when the track is closed kids feel like they need to street race. in all honesy i think the best think to do is open up a runway (not a track) that people can go to freely yes there is the whole still dangerous thing and what about security but if you think about it theres no security or emts there when you street race so whats the diffrence. at least this way innocent people would not be put in harms way

fordfanatic
thats why i love that the cops are cracking down on these little assholes. if you cant afford $20 to race at the track then you cant afford to get your car out of the impound yard or to pay your tickets, which means i dont have to worry about you driving like an asshole on the streets any more.

99transam
thats funny $20 dollars , it costs me 70-80 just to bring the car out to race on the street, thats exactly what im talking about kids ruin it all the time. they draw to much attention to themselves. they lineup on the highway TRY to do a burnout, then there taking 16 seconds or worse to get the hell out of the way o other traffic behind them.
