My Integra's clutch shit the bed tonight. It was fine earlier in the day, and around 5pm it began catching lower than normal. Usually the clutch pedal catches almost at the top, then it slow caught lower...and lower...and lower...and floored. It all happened in one day. The clutch was pretty much stuck to the floor and moved around like a limp penis. I couldn't get the car into ANY gear without shoving it. To get it into 1st I had to complete turn off the car at every stop and put the car into first (forcefully) and then floor the gas pedal as I lifted off the clutch to get it to go anywhere. I limped the car back to my dorm.

Is my clutch fried? The clutch fluid was full from what I could see. Could it be the slave cylinder? Noting was leaking from what I could see. I'll check again in the day time. Could some line need to be tightened? I don't know! lol

I dont know about your car, but I had a car one time that the clutch pedal went all the way to the floor. The clutch cable broke.

It would catch, just ON the floor. And I couldn't get it into gear without diddling it back and forth, turning the car off then back on, etc. Could it still be the cable?
tammlet
I dont know, I am not even sure if your car has a cable. I'm just saying.. I had one that did the same or a similar thing before. You can drive a manual without using the clutch. When mine broke that time, it stalled in traffic, at least it was in the wee morning hours, soooo I tried to start it and it bunny hopped to the nearest parking lot. Once you get it passed the certain RPMs to shift, you can shift without the clutch.

Again, just saying.. not exactly sure.

I'm sure the pros will be along soon to help ya figure it out for sure.

Good luck smile.gif

also, maybe whatever clutch type you have, it just needs adjusted.

My Stang is an 02, and I dont have a cable, but I can still pull up on the clutch pedal to adjust the clutch.
tammlet
Ok so I was just informed that my clutch in my Stang IS a cable, LOL. Sorry for the wrong info up there wink.gif
J Kellz
just get a junked clutch at a junk yard
BIFF
I'm pretty sure if you have a clutch master cylinder with clutch fluid you don't have a clutch cable. I'd say it could be a bad slave cylinder or clutch master maybe?
J Kellz
someone with honda/acura knowledge must have some info on this
custom rides
if your clutch was blown. you would still be able to put it into gear. it just wouldnt catch. i have a weird problem as well.....sometimes my reverse gear goes mia. on me....no matter how hard i try it wont move in that direction like its stuck. i doubt thats your problem but it could be the slave. especially if it is not leaking.
Sully
hmmmm my civic had an issue where it seemed like i had a bad clutch cable. with hydraulics thats not possible. I put a new slave in there and it worked mint. the master can be a bitch to get to
J Kellz
dani if u wanna rip the motor apart let me know, i have someone that has done this down here and would be willing to come up and help you out
danigurrl
I might try the slave cylinder. It was bad when I bought the car and I replaced it...about 6k miles ago. Could it have gone bad again?

Sounds more like slave cylinder or something. A blown clutch just wont catch, esp. with a hyd. setup.

100% sure nothing is leaking at all and the resivor is full?

Yea, that's what she was thinking. The fact that there is zero resistance when pushing the clutch down is making the slave cylinder sound more like the issue.
Hyland33
hope you figure out what is wrong...certainly made the trip home an adventure last night
84TA406
Is the clutch engaging and disengaging at all?

Clutch fluid is full and nothing that I can see is leaking.

Sounds like a bad slave to me.

If its that cheap I would deff. try that. If you need a place/tools to do it you can do it here.

That was fun!

I've been doing a ton of research on Honda-Tech and I think its most likely the slave cyl. I'll pick one up at AutoZone. Thats so weird that its already bad, I just replaced it 6k miles ago!

For that cheap its probably a matter of time. A slave for my dads car is upwards of 130..

I'd need it to be towed there. sad.gif It doesn't go into gear AT ALL without force. I don't have my tools with me though, I may need to swing by and borrow something, haha. Or go home and get my tool chest.
84TA406
Yeah if you need anything just let me know. I have just about every tool and im only like 5 mins from becker.
danigurrl
:-D Wilbur will live again!
custom rides
how do you change one of thoes? i may try this on my accord. it gets tempermental.
J Kellz
pay someone KJ lol
danigurrl
Well I just went out and checked everything again. The slave cyl isn't leaking. When I reached my hand up the clutch pedal to the firewall, there was grease. I've did some research and that would be the master cylinder. I also looked how to change it. Its only 2 bolts. lol.
J Kellz
so then what are you doing on here? change it
danigurrl

Uh, I live in a dorm and lack tools, or a ride to get the new part.
J Kellz
there has to be someone there. wheres andrew?
danigurrl
I have his car for the weekend. My tools are home though and I'm not going to put that kind of mileage on his car. It'll just have to wait until next week or something. No rush. I'm in school all week and I just work on weekends.
J Kellz
ill come up with some tools and help you change it out if u want dani
84TA406
You can borrow my tools anytime, just bring them back lol
J Kellz
yeah since hes not using them anyway might as well get some use out of them
84TA406
Ummm I work on plenty more cars than just my own...
J Kellz
not mine?
84TA406
What do you need done? I just did brakes all around on a 2003 audi A4 the other day.
J Kellz
um something, anything to make the car faster
84TA406
Just buy a CAI or something, I have no clue what the market is for a camry.
J Kellz
CAI is 350 bucks for my car only made by AEM. sully is gonna help me build one
84TA406
Exhaust?
J Kellz
i would love to do an exhaust but something sport/tuner not ricey
84TA406
Magnaflow.
J Kellz
yeah but if i do that i wanna do a dual pipe
84TA406
Then bring it to a custom shop. Is that a 4 or 6 cylinder?
J Kellz
4 banger
84TA406
Dont do a dual a 4 banger wont sound right.
J Kellz
