Where do you guys go wheelin? There are some spots in my town and around the general area. Nothing big but an hour or two maybe. I'm dying to go out to western Mass and hit up the good stuff over there. Found a good spot right here though. It's quite muddy!

Are you talking trucks or quads??

Trucks....
D. Snuts
being that i'm in an offroad club i'm limited to legal areas. mostly class 6 roads in nh. most are very challenging though
Kalashnikov
WHat club are you in? I might be joining one soon. Do you go up to NH for like a weekend and go? I wish there were closer places. I don't really have the time or the money to travel that far. Wish I did. Got any pics the roads?
D. Snuts
NEZR2. its the only pic i have that i can load here the rest are to big. search fall crawl nh and you may find some pics
DieselDBag
Kid I work with goes in northeaster RI and into conn. Probally a hr away from the fall river area. They are public roads so you can drive on them. He says there pretty fun. Someday I will make it out there

D. Snuts

Kalashnikov

none that are legal and ri has cracked down big time. RI recieveda grant to do something like make a legal area for ATVs and OHV's. So far nothing has been done but talk. and very little. I may have to visit th dem agent i know and give him another kick to the butt on this

I had heard that all the powerlines were legal as long as your vehicle was registered. You'd just have to tell a ranger. At least I think it was the power lines.

no. read the signs on the poles.
Kalashnikov
Maybe it was something else, although did they use to be? They could have closed whatever it was down. I don't know how long ago it was.
D. Snuts
I thik you're right . they may have used to be but I kow they aren't now. Like most trails arond they became a dumping ground for trash and stuff.

Mh, it's a real fuckin shame. Poeple dumping trash have given the 4x4 community a bad name and runied all the good spots to go.
Kalashnikov
Went to Freetown state forest today. Was quite disspointed. Mostly just shitty road/dirt roads. Nothing special. Did a dumb thing and got my front diff hooked right up on a rather large tree. Person I was with found out his 4x4 isn't working. Someone I was with was telling me the stories of the cults and things there. Makes me want to go back and check it out more, especially after looking up the stories online. Anyone know how to get to the ledge? It's a big 100' cliff in the N/W area...

I used to go on the power line trail in Cranston and was never bothered but haven't been in a while and am not sure how legal it is. If anybody has goes or organizes an off road meet let me know, I am dying to take my truck off roading again but would rather stay legal with it.
DieselDBag
I know how to get to the ledge. but by riding in there not by telling you. So im not much help. Next time u go let me kno, I will take the quad in there and meet u....
RAMCHICK01
there are some trails out in dighton dwn the power lines and lopes has a huge pit.... ur not sposta b there but what people do n what there sposta do r 2 diff things
Kalashnikov
There's susppose to be a trip planned on another forum I;m on to go to Carnage hill in troy, NH. Its suppose to be before the snow hits so I'll let you guys know when. I'd like to stay legal myself but all the legal spots are far away. Somtimes you just want to go for a couple hours so there's not sense in driving that far. Plus the powerlines are always full of different types of terrain.

There are pretty no places in RI that are legal, but legal things aren't that much fun......go illegal and enjoy the rush!!!!!

As long as the popo doesn't mind, I'll go. I've had 2 warnings, 1 written and 1 verbal, and a $250 fine that I got dropped to $100 so far. That's since I got my truck in May 07. I've had a few close calls when cops passed just as I got out, though. The first warning and the fine were almost exactly a year apart-May 07 and May 08 for the fine.

I go to a lot of mud bogs in the area and theres a place near me a couple towns over I go to. Take this mostly.

That's an older picture, at the time it just had a 2" shackle lift. It's in the process of getting a spring over now and I need to find some 35's for it.

there is a place in seekonk if your still looking for places

Yeah, that really ruins it. I've been on a wheeling trip with NEZR2 that Mark belongs too and those guys pick up any trash they see along the way and are a good group to go with. My friends and I go through some trails in Bellingham where nobody gives us a hard time at all, but we aren't dumping trash and causing disturbances. Are you in Uxbridge still?

That's not something you see on the trails everyday! Got anymore pics?

I'm going home tomorrow for 6 weeks. I'm commuting to school next semester so I'll be there most of the time. John showed me the place near the VFW, which I only went to once, but it seemed good. I've been behind Market Basket in the pits, which wasn't too bad. Behind Walmart looks like it could be good. I've never actually seen the one behind Homedepot, but on Google Earth it looks good.

I'm always up for trying out new places, as long as they aren't too close to houses.

You really don't see them all too often. I've got a few of them myself. Heres some more pics.

After the spring-over

Theres a place in Taunton at the end of Gleebe Street (I think thats how you spell it). I'm pretty sure it a legal dirt road that brings you out to a field that gets pretty muddy and if you keep going back theres another bigger field that has a ditch running through the middle of it that fills up with water and gets really muddy.

Going though this thread I found more wrongs then right. There are hardly any legal places to wheel in Mass anymore, powerlines are most times off limits and trying out places that you either know of that are illegal or in a gray area of the law does not do the 4x4 community any good.I started a legal off-road club tht has access to private land mostly in N.H. but a few spots in Mass.I am also an admin on a Nh. based forum that has scouted out plenty off class 6 roads in that state and its legal wheeling with out worring about the police.
The more you go off roading and doing it illegally the worse it will be for legit trails to stay open or new ones to be given to us.I'm not here too bust balls but just want to help and let people know tht there is plenty of wheeling in N.E. and it can be done legally.

We wheel all over N.H.
Here is one forum. What do you wheel? We don't over abuse trails and we do things properly. That way we can enjoy them for years to come.

I know this. I really don't care to wheel illegally, but if the police/town don't mind, then I don't the see problem. It really isn't illegal if the police don't care. Last time I traveled far I got screwed over. I'm not going back to NH anytime soon. Sometimes I just want to have a couple of hours of fun, I can't justify traveling hours to go wheelin for a day on rough stuff.

I hardly see how wheeling illegally matters any bit for legal trails.

I know there are a lot of place in NE that are legal, but like I said, last time I traveled far it did me more harm then good. Honestly I'd much rather get the $250 fine than go through that again.

Not trying to be an ass. I know there are a lot of places out there. I've searched my ass off trying to find out about places throughout the state and NE. It caertainly doesn't help when 90% of the places that are public are kept secret by clubs and the like.

Personally, I don't why anyone would care if you are wheeling illegally unless, you are acting irresponsilbe or disturbing someone. There should be more important things to worry about than me driving on powerlines which are driven on anyways. If there is a dirt path that's been driven on, why can't I drive on it? And what pisses me off more if I get in trouble for something as harmless as this when the cops are letting drunk drivers off the hook. This just makes me want to do it even more. It's completely harmless (unless you drive/act like a jackass, but that goes for pretty much everything).
