Nick?
ok i just found a good deal on a lot of parts
and i got a really good price on a s/c kit for a ss but shannons car is a ls wat will i need to convert it

also for the 5 lug swap wat will i need
LSRengineering
A lot and its generally not good to boost a factory car since the internals are usually weaker and the compression is sometimes higher.
Nrw
I could have sworn both motors are completly different for some reason. I could be very wrong though.
The Onion
yup...ss/sc is a 2 liter...the 2.2 ecotec is in shannons car.

5 lug conversion is not even worth it.

If you wanted to do anything for her car turbo would be the way to go...but even at that who knows how long the tranny is gonna survive
Nick?
i can get the whole kit every thing for really cheap

hows 200 for a full ss body kit and 5 lug coversoin with ss wheels

is there any way the ss kit would work
Nrw
sell it and buy an ss..

The ss body kit would work. People that have done the sc kit on the motor say it costs around 2kish to do. Plus you have to get the car tuned and really shouldnt be doing it on a stock bottom end.

The 5 lug conversion is really easy in the front...the rear youd need the whole rear axle because thats where the caliper brackets mount to...and there is no 5 lug cobalt with drum brakes...and im pretty sure all the 4 lugs are drums.
Nick?
wat esle could i use off this ss car cause i can get anything off it for cheap motor and tranny are gone
Twinkie
The path you are looking to go is definitely not worth the money.

The basemodel LS/LT is a 2.2L ECOtec that was designed for economic use. It's internals are not measured up to the test of strength.

Both methods of forced induction on this engine pose problems... it's definitely not as simple as slapping on a blower or a turbo. Your tranny/axles probably won't make it down the road, and your pistons will probably be next right after that.

That's why, unless you have a LOT of money to spend, it would be best to just buy a SS/SC, or a SS/NA. The 2.4L ECOtec in the NA gives you a LOT more room to work with, and a much better foundation for performance.

Some people have done turbo/blower addons, but it requires a LOT of time and money.

think it sjust gonna be the ss body for now and when we get rich turbo

the whole body kit...and the seats...and thats about it. But like andrew and I said its really not worth it. And if you did do all that to it the next part of the project is dealing with the automatic...its not gonna like the boost that the m62 puts out with a stock pulley

to be honest I think a hahn racecraft turbo kit with low boost would work out better than the blower...as much as I love my blower.

Body kit isn't too much trouble. I suggest actually getting foglights instead of leaving the openings blank. And maybe some sort of exhaust... because the opening for the exhaust on the bumper is a bit big compared to the exhaust on the factory LS.

However, if you do go the SS bodykit route... please do not put SS badges on your car. This will direct a LOT of heat towards you, the same way SRT-4 owners go apeshit over basemodel Neon's who put SRT-4 badges on their cars (and EVO owners for Lancers, and so on, and so on...)
Nick?
hey chris i think we are just geting the body kit now and projectors and a strut bar because he wont sell the whole rear axel and the car is gonna be lowerd

The GMPP cat back fits on those right? It might be quite loud on there but its a nice exhaust.

Hey nothing wrong with leaving the holes blank LOL...my front end looks like a wanna be comp package
Nick?

Yes, it will fit. And it's probably one of the better sounding exhausts on a 2.2. Some of the other aftermarket ones on 2.2's sound like crap.

And in regards to your blank holes, your car came like that... and it looks fine smile.gif. It would look really odd if a lookalike SS/SC had two holes where foglights should be.
Nick?
cough he wants to sell whole car now so i am out of cheap parts o well

I put the fog light bezels in yesterday...so my car technically didnt come like that haha

But yeah...lower it with the ss kit and projectors a cai and gmpp exhaust and thatd be a nice looking/sounding car
Twinkie
Greatly depends on what kind of paint job you want. If you want the Maaco special, not too much. If you want a REALLY well-done paint job, then it will probably cost you a bit. I've never been even remotely knowledgeable on paint, so I can't answer this accurately.
Nick?
how much would make be for just the bumper wats teh color codes for black cobalts

I think black for the Cobalt is 41/WA8555. Not 100% certain on that, though. I think it may have changed on some years very slightly.

And I am looking into prices for a SS/SC bumper... there are a few ways to get one. I'll post my findings soon.
LS6rally
yea paint for the bumper would probably be atleast $200. for prep and paint. but it would look good. the 5 lig swap would be too much hassle. i would be interested in the SC kit, but i think u said hes selling the whole car. anyways the leatehr interior in her black car would look good.
Nick?
he put it on ebay
