so i may pick up a set of these cams over the winter. frpp "hot rod" cams. i dont remeber the exact specs but its somethign like a 270 intake and 274 exhaust. its roughly the same thing i was looking at for sc cams, which is awesome because i can sc my car and have it sound like this.

on an all stock motor, no tune, 30 hp, an all stock motor with ported heads, no tune, 50hp, i read a few testimonials of guys with the ported heads, lt, o/r h pipes, axel backs and a good tune, almost 80 hp.

UMMMMM Is it a force fed cam or an NA because from i understand there is no back and forth. NA cams leave the ex valve open for a split second while the intake is opened to suck air into the cylinder. A force fed cam doesn't overlap the two because you would just lose boost. I'm looking into the same exact thing right now for the LS. The shitty part is the cost of 4 cams is like 1200-1500 bucks and that's before any labor. If you do it your self you still have to replace gaskets and shit, plus with a good cam, you should always get a good tune or your just wasting money by not optimising the performance gain from it. So just ddoing rough math and such you looking at close to 2k for a seet of cams set up and ready to rock.
If you're in the market, I may be willing to sell you my SCT Xcal 2 which is about the best brand of tuner for those stangs. we can talk. I'm looking into getting a few steps up from the same company so I can use it as a boost gauge and a wideband. But the Xcal 2 is what I have my tune on right now. It just cant real time data log and display.

well i have to do more research on the actual cam itself but yes i know how important it is to tune, i just got # from a site, and an awful lot of guys run these w sc's so... as per the sct2, i may, but they just came out w the sct3 and the awesome sct livewire

live wire is what I was planning on running in mine because it can be my boost gauge at the same time .... but this just got my dick hard

Aren't cams one of the last things you want to do to a mod motor?

why? that seems like a tool was trying to convince you of something.
the 3v dont see the gains of the 4v, but still nice gains and cams are like amps..... they give more gain as you add other mods!

If he likes the sound, wants the sound, and plans to run an SC, there is no harm in doing the cams IMO. If he wants to do things 2x, so what?

Because arent cams more beneficial when other supporting mods are done too? I didnt know he plans on a S/C... then it makes more sense.

yeah.... but they still are bennoficial now.... just needs to figure out what he wants to do with this car before he has to buy multiple sets of cams. cam swap in a dohc v8 is 4 cams.... figure 600 for two.... holy shit expensive! I would definitely figure out what he wants to do first. I am looking at cams for the LS, but I need to figure out N/A or FI before i pay out the ass for custom ground cams.

definitely do that research. There is a difference in grind between a FI and a NA cam. If I come across some good 411 in my quest I'll PM ya or something.
our motors have alot of similarities but they also have a few big differences. Our power curves are pretty close. Things that work in my car may not work as well in yours because of the 4v vs 3v, but they should see gains in similar ways.

The only diffrence is the LSA and as long as you keep it at 112-114 you'll be fine for both N/A and Boost.
