I am too Neil...
I would say the 6.0 is a good motor to make a lot of power off of from what I've seen. The 7.3's can make good amounts as well.

I really like my 6.0, but the 7.3 is a great motor as well. You can never kill those 7.3's. I've seen some of those with over 300K and still running strong.

I haven't any probs with mine. My friend has one with almost 70K on it and no problems yet and he really works his truck. All I use mine is for towing cars or a utility trailer every so often. I would say it depends on how the person takes care of it as any other truck.

ok junior its not that easy. The 7.3 was pretty reliable, but never dreamt of making power like the 6.0 The 6.0 had issues in 03,04 that they didnt have in 05,06 then again just liike every single motor ever made..... some people have had lemons. Call Joe. That fucking kid REALLY knows his Power Strokes

and just so you7 know.... international has been making the ford diesels since before they were powerstokes. the 6.0 vs international is like which is better coke classic or coca cola..... SAME THING!!!!!!!! And the 6.4>6.0 in all areas. 6.0>7.3 power 7.3>6.0 for reliability. What the fuck do you need that much truck for?

well id go with the 6.0 the ppll working for dinacorps over (blackwater) have lvl 7 uparmored 6.0l's in there with a little twist. a chip, exhaust, suspension, and upgraded turbo and tranny. they love the 6.0l so reliable. hey if it can take gunfire and get blown up and beat the hell out of all day long, its reliable. they hated the 7.3l cuz it always broke on them in the middle of being shot at. they tore them out and junked them and replaced it with a 6.0l so id def. get the 6.0

whats the truck for? The powerstroke is a TON of truck for 98-99% of businesses. what is the truck going to be used for? Its been my experience that MANY people buy 250 and 350s when the 150 is WAY more than they need.

oh and the XLT package from Ford has degraded with time. It used to be that XLT had all the bells and whistles. Now the XLT hasnt evolved and is damn near a stripped out version. The Lariat holds its resale a whole lot better considering how loaded it is. All cars/trucks hold value better with the higher end packages in them.

ummmm one other thing..... if a 150 will work for ya, dealerships are offering rediculous insentives to buy trucks right now. I have a buddy with a brand new GMC Sierra (think thgats what they are called, the 40-50k silverados) and he got it brand new off the lot for 23k. you probably could find an 09 F-150 XL 4x4 (strictly a work truck since it has no real features) for about the same price and have a warrenty to go with it

7.3 Powerstroke - Most reliable, easiest to work on, won't make as much power a 6.0 w/ same mods
6.0 Powerstroke - Still reliable, however it has known headgasket issues when you start modifying it.
6.4 Powerstroke - I haven't heard anything bad about this motor yet... but trucks with this motor have all that new emissions crap.
I own an 05 w/ the 6.0 and haven't had any problems in ~63k miles. My old man has an 08' with the 6.4 @ ~14kmi no problems so far, and he's getting amazing fuel mileage out of the truck (averaging about 18mpg mixed driving). I've also known several people with 7.3 Powerstroke trucks, and I'm still waiting to see a properly maintained 7.3 catastrophically fail.

250 is over kill....... unless you plan on getting into excavation equipment.

a 250 would be the right size. if you wanna plow and landscape. we used to have 3 450 and 2 ram 3500's but we also had alotta crap to haul around all with dump bodys. but they had the banks kits on them so them moved and quickly

for doing raking and basic landscaping, a 150 will do every bit of it. It'll really do it all if there is a trailor involved
Junior
Dec 17 2008, 03:52 PM
there is a trailer involved and sand/salt spreader in the bed
