did the bailout state no performance cars? what about the mustang? im curious, not questioning you
It stated less attention on performance models and more on high fuel mileage and fewer emissions and cars that the public want.
All the automakers have to work at the oil problem and start making more alternative energy cars and hybrids.
The modified performance cars are nice but the public as a whole doesn't buy them..Just like they now have to downsize production of SUVs because of fuel mileage.
Making cars that people don't buy was the biggest issue with the House and Senate,or only target advertising high profit cars like SUVs.
The mustang will still be made, but i bet you will see something like a 4cyl or small 6 cyl or hybrid designed more for fuel savings and fewer emissions.
The mustang has more options than just a high performance model.
I'd bet you will see the end of Chrysler all together.
I'd bet the Camaro will end up being a clone of the volt.
The Corvette and Mustang will be a puss and will end up being modified for performance aftermarket.Or,it will be a high performance electric.
As of now (before the new pres and company take the reigns) there is little room for big boy toys and there is a person to make sure the money and manufacturers go the way they are supposed to.
It won't happen suddenly but over time it will, but for now i think we will see less attention on performance and more on fuel saving and green house gases.
I know the performance people don't want to hear that but...oh well.
GM has already put a stop on some future performance projects and although they had already put the next Corvette on hold,it's on hold for and even longer time now.
It's the start of the Pinto Stang era all over again.
