Hey guys. I've got some Vinyl stripes to go on my car ,but I suck ass with this kind off stuff. They run along the rocker panels like on the Mustangs. If anyone knows how to do this any and all help will be welcome. If you want to do it for me it could earn you a 30 rack of your choice. smilie_help.gif

I appreciate that. When we get out of the freezing range ,we can set something up. I want to take the clay bar to her before I put them on and I'm not dragging my ass out there to do it until it gets around 40.

putting big pieces of vinyl on isnt as simple as putting a small decal on...good luck it takes a lot of time and patience.
TFIVEM
right maddie , very different from a decal. the vynil will most likley strech and get wavy if you dont apply it right. line up with like painters tape. and peel backing off at an angle to avoid it from pulling up parts of it
*LS1* Queen
ya and they tend to get a lot of air bubbles. They are a bitch! lol
TFIVEM
credit cards your friend here lol
custom rides
Tis true. I do it for customers usually during the summer. It takes precise measuring a steady hand and a Trained Eye to be able to pull it off nicely.

ive used the plastic card type thingys u get for that actual purpose...air bubbles are inevitable but u can take a tiny pin to em. If they are inexpensive try em urself but if they cost alot leave em to someone thats done them before or go to a sign shop to have em done.
TFIVEM
dont want to sketch you out from doing it, we're just letting you know what can go wrong so you can avoid them and make it perfect smile.gif

another move is to apply the pressure to the midline and work your way out to the edges. the slower and more patience you give the better the results.

maddie are your stripes paint or vynil?

cannondalemtb
clean paint
soapy water on both paint and vinyl
apply vinyl in middle first
work your way out from the center with a credit card or similar soft plastic scrapper
take your time and work out all the bubbles
the soapy water will give you the ability to move it around/pull it up if need be
once satisfied, sit back and let that soapy water dry
go back and look for any bubbles
if there are any small bubbles you may have left, just barely touch them with the corner of a razor blade and work the bubble out

That outta do it!

good info. I'd just like to add a couple things. You will want to squeegee out as much of the fluid as you can once you have the graphic lined up. I wouldn't just use soapy water. Some soaps can effect how tacky the decal is, shortening it's life span. Joy dish soap is a good one to use, or even baby shampoo. Any small bubbles left, use a pin not the corner of a razor. you'll have better results. Once the sun hits it for a few hours, the vinyl does usually shrink a tad, which will help get rid of those small bubbles as well. wink.gif

Not at all. I think I might just take it to a sign shop. I hate working with decals and vinyl. I just was going to make an attempt, but screw it. I want it done right. I'm wicked anal when it comes to my car. Thats why I've had these for almost a year and have yet to put them on.

Probably not a bad idea. They'll do it in a warm garage where it will be easiest to work with vinyl.
TFIVEM
warm garage is key right now
