I saw a guy on a Nova site did something like this.

He used AN fittings on his OEM sending unit and attached 1/2" line. Thus giving 1/2" line, and retaining the fuel gauge sender.

On the Nova the fuel sender is on top of the tank... Where as on my Cougar the sender is on the bottom half of the tank on the side.

I'm not that familiar with AN fittings, but I'd like to learn. Will something like this 'seal' if I used copper washers of some sort on both sides of the bulkhead fitting? I'm worried about it leaking at the bulkhead fitting.

i'll help you......................
BOTTLEDZ28
what type of bulkhead fitting is on the tank now?
PSquare75
Right now? nothing.. It's an OEM sending unit like this.

I copied the guys parts list.

RUS-660580 NUT TUBE COUPLING #8AN PKG 2

RUS-660660 SLEEVE TUBE 8AN PKG 2

RUS-661260 ELBOW 90DEG FLARE BULKHEAD #8

RUS-661900 NUT BULKHEAD #8

I've got 1/2" aluminum line, I need t come up with a flare tool for it for 37 degree flares.

It appears all he did was drill a hole and ran that bulkhead fitting through it. I just don't know if thats 'fluid-proof'. I was thinking of those copper washers like used on brake line connections, but 1/2" in diameter? dunno.gif

RTV Sealant?!?
LSRengineering
A washer should do the trick. If you look on summit they sell the bulkhead fittings with a certain washer as well.
BOTTLEDZ28
Paul is there a way to mount the sending unit on top of the tank? If not then Im sure you can get something to seal the bulkhead up.
PSquare75
I can normally justify buying things for my car..

but $120 in AN fittings? wtf.gif
BOTTLEDZ28
I feel your pain Paul. I spend over $200 on fittings when i swapped in my Holley Stealth Ram EFI setup. Those things add up after a while. I think there is another company that sells AN style fitting that are not expensive. There is aplace here in Tiverton RI that sells a bunch of AN fittings. They are cheaper then the anodized ones. The place is called The hose connection. They may not have everything you need but it can help with the cost if you buy what you can from them.
PSquare75
I checked Mcmaster for the cheaper JIC fittings.

I would have saved..... $5. Some of the fittings I needed just weren't available

And I hate the red and blue anodized bling.

Sigh..

Here we go.

this is why we let Paul do all the hard stuff, while we make fun of him for it, then once he knows how to do it, we make him do it over and over again for us!
PSquare75
No parts list for you, Drew! smack.gif

Paul, after you get that straightened out, make sure you correct the date and time issues you seem to be experiancing with your camera.
PSquare75
I dropped it sad.gif

I should just turn off the date tag, but it always resets to ON.
BOTTLEDZ28
so whats next, drop the tank and install the rest of the stuff?
PSquare75
tank doesnt need to be dropped.. the sender is accessible from the side of the car w/o even raising it.

Now it's run 1/2" line the length of the car and see how long my roll lasts me.

Shit getting the fuel pump out of my car is an all day affair. maybe two. rear has to be dropped out. exhaust has to be removed. major PITA. you luck out I guess. Good luck
PSquare75
mechanical fuel pump ftw

Don't worry, I'll pay my dues up front when I have to deal with the pump..

I get to "make" a pump rolleyes.gif

carter killed the 172 gph big block ford pump, but they still make the 172 big block chevy pump.. the bases swap.. so I'm getting a 130 gph bbf, and a 172 bbc, and swapping.

This will be fun smile.gif
