Hey guys, so I got a Pioneer Avic-F700BT with the Ipod A/V cable for my Maxima. Can't wait to get it in, but had a question on the install. Does anyone know how I can find the VSS wire in my maxima for the Nav? I've installed plenty of HU's and screens, but I've never done one with Nav and am lost as far as the VSS goes. Any help would be greatly appreciated. And here's a link for those of you who haven't seen the thing, its awesome full touchscreen, Navigation, Bluetooth with advanced voice controls, Sat/HD ready, Ipod control (including music videos, Youtube videos, and podcasts), has USB and SD car inputs, and the best part, its completely hackable seeing as it runs WinCE!

See if you can find a wiring diagram for your car and then go from there. I wonder if the dealership could give you info on something like that.. Nice HU BTW

as MUCH as i HATE to admit it.. you could ask james. i know hes a hack sometimes but hes awesome with electrical. ugh i cant believe i even said it puke.gif

If you were not so far away, I would help you out. Like I siad before though, if the NAV system requires you to hook up the HU to the cars VSS, then your gonna have to find a wiring scrematic for your car and then look for the wire somewhere under the dash. The hardest part is finding the wire if its buried in a bundle of wires.
BOTTLEDZ28
I just found this. See if this helps you any.

also found this:

NISSAN, MAXIMA, 2004, Speed Sense
Green or brown wire
Location:
Unified Meter and A/C Amp, pin 26
Note:
The Unified Meter and A/C Amp is the first module below the display in the dash.

also, does your HU play DVDs. If so, are you planning on bypassing the emergancy brake sensor so you can watch while driving?
04max
No, it doesn't play DVD's but it does take any kind of video input, so I have a 32GB SD card that I can load digital copies onto and my ipod as well, which will play with the A/V cable. As far as the bypass goes, I found the Software bypass info and hardware bypass info on Avic411.com, so I think i'm going to do the software bypass rather then the hardware bypass. Another one of the reasons I love it, its fully hackable, can make it do and show anything thanks to the WinCE it runs in the background.

Kristen, I wouldn't let James touch my car for anything lol. The electrical isn't the problem, I can do the install, its just the location of the VSS that I need to locate. its not required for the install, but it makes the nav much more accurate and adds things like onboard Speedo and speedtrap camera warnings.

Thanks for the help guys, I'm going to check out the 6thgenmaxima.org now biggrin.gif

So my F700 came in yesterday, haven't installed it yet, but it doesn't come with the VSS hookup, which only comes in the F900, so I'm looking into how to wire it up using it anyway.
04max
Installed it today, without the VSS which there is no way to use. Bypassed it so video and Nav config function while driving, and moving on to software hacks tomorrow! I'll have pictures soon, even though my dash no longer matches because I had done it black, and the dash kit came in the factory silver, which wont get painted until it warms up a little bit and I can spray it outside.
Metalfan1185
I used to have a ton of mobile apps for Windows CE and Windows Mobile, i have no idea where the disc went.

As for Motulski, i've ran into him a few times, he seems cool to me. He knows a lot about Car audio and Alarm Systems.

i think he wanted me to fix a Car amp for him a little while ago, but i havent talked to him since then.

If you find it, let me know, i'd be very interested in seeing what else I can do with this thing!
