Well I'm going to start collecting parts for my suspension since it appears my passenger front shock has given out after 10-11 years.

So my question is should I go with OEM dust boots and shock/strut mounts or would aftermarket, kyb i think, be sufficient? Also would there be anything else that I would need?

I plan on going with Progress Springs and Tokico Illuminas. And I'm pretty set on those.

good pick, you may also need strut mounts or what ever they are called when i re-did my car and lowered it i replaced everything and needed 4 new ones, but why dont u drop it a lil???

i know tap is selling a eibach kit same as myan, talk to him if ya want... just me .02

Hey brad I am dropping it. With progress springs. Close to the same amount as the eibach's but I've heard they ride better for a daily.

And I'm asking about the strut mounts lol. Specifically what brand.
DuraMaxxD
ha i didnt read everything, uh i do after market why not ya know, check around on the org see what you can pull up

That's what I've been doing. Seems kinda blurry to me. That's why I'm asking here because I know there's a few people who know Maxima's fairly well here.
DuraMaxxD

I believe on the 4th gens, OEM is the best replacement. I've heard of issues with the KYB strut mounts and boots.

Alright thanks. It seemed like some people recommened them while others said OEM is the way to go. After some more reading it was saying to use dust boots from a mustang up front and miata in the rear dunno.gif. I think those were KYB ones.

I have about 60k miles on my illuminas without issue and have hit so many hard bumps the car has been airborn several times. I even had a few bad bubbles in my old tires from hitting new england potholes. I highly suggest them and they will make a good bit of difference over oem.

I also have Eibach springs which I think are fine for anything other than inner city driving. When I lived on the cape I loved em, now that I live in norwood they are a bit rough but still livable and deff make the car handle. The drop is pretty damn close to even too.

Dude OEM sucks! lol I've heard some sob stories how struts prematurely fail, but I think these guys are driving the wheels off their cars! I have been running Eibachs/Illuminas for a coupla years with no problem! When you do the job, DEFINATELY replace the strut mounts. Thats whats making noise most of the time. They are cheap, easy to replace while in there already, and OEM is perfect on them!

I <3 my Illuminas. Im running Eibach springs, but heard that Progress and H&R are also very good, with slightly less harsh ride. My .02 smile.gif

I can't speak for a Maxima, but on my Cavalier, the KYB strut mounts suck, people usually use Gabriel. As for dust boots, It's never come up in conversation, I just reused mine, with a small crack in the side of them and all. 55K miles later, no problem.

Do as many poly bushings that you can afford and have time to do. They make a huge difference.
