Ok, I have told some of you that the last couple of days my poor Bubba was getting fevers, and yesterday he got heat stroke while I was sitting in the drive thru.

Well, Since I bought the truck I always had a hard time keeping antifreeze in the bottle. I'd put it in, fill it up, run it, fill it agian, and with in a week or so the bottle would be empty, but no problems with the truck. Never over heated, always had antifreeze in the radiator so I said "whatever, its fine for now, I'll get to the root of the problem at some point or another."
Well that point started on Sunday.. I was driving a little rougher than normal on my way back from Seekonk. When I stopped at DnD for a coffee, I noticed a very strong smell of antifreeze. (always had a slight odor, and found out when zack and I were installing the HID's that there was a tiny crack at the top of the back of the radiator) So I knew it was about time to find out where it was coming from. Couldn't really see where it was leaking from, Wasn't a really big leak, couldn't figure it out on my own.. Nothing was really different in the temp of the truck until Monday morning on my way to work. I started the truck a few minutes early like normal, and drove to the Store 24, up the street. I had no heat, Which was odd, cause my truck cranks heat. I notice the temp gauge, and its running close to 210.. and it was never that hot. Finally the heat kicks in. So I'm so confused.
Didn't think much about it till yesterday when the temp shot all the way up while I was idling. Couldn't bring it to the shop till today, So I came home yesterday and parked it figuring the 2 block drive to work wouldn't bother it, and i could go straight to the shop after work. Since I hadn't seen any leakage on the ground, thought maybe, just maybe it would be the thermostat just being junk and not doing its job.

Well, I hit the remote start as I was locking the door to my house, and "Click Click Click" the battery was dead. Shit.. So I walk to work, use the work van after work to jump it, but not before filling it up with more antifreeze so I can run it a lil while to recharge the battery. So, I fill it up, take it for a drive to the shop, and realize the guys not at the shop. So I figured I'd save time and go to Lacava to get a Thermostat and we could throw it in anyway, it couldn't hurt..
Ok, drive back to the shop, and now the temp is right where it should be. Everythings cool. Figured it was just low on antifreeze and just needed to get it through the system. We pressure tested it to see where it was leaking, if it was just that small crack on the top backside of the radiator that was cause..

Well, wouldn't ya know, after topping off the radiator again, and a couple of pumps of pressure, it starts pissing out antifreeze. This time, From the front of the radiator. Apparently, there's a wayy big crack in the front..


So now its not a mistery as to why I couldn't keep antifreeze in the bottle. And as to why Bubba started with random fevers..


PS. I apologize for the big long story to say i needed a new radiator, but i was bored and had nothing better to do, so I figured I'd make a short story long.

Good just a radiator, cause those Vortec motors are prone to intake gasket failure which either fills the base up with coolant or it leaks into the cylinders and burns off. Not a bad fix.

Yeah.. I'm glad it was just the radiator.. Especially cause the guy that's doing it was happy about it too.. :-D

And score, only 140 for a brandyyy new one, cause I get it at cost.

Just a silly one.. I should be smarter than that though.. So Bubba's gotta go under the knife in a couple of days.

If there was was a big ass leak at the front of the radiator, why was there no puddle?

Because before I had added it today, I hadn't added any in a while, and the level was lower than the crack, Im guessing anyway.

There is a puddle in front of my house from where i usually park, from the last couple of days, and the same thing at work...

Well I guess that would make sense.

My dads caprice had a small crack in the radiator and it would only leak once the system built pressure.

Yep, just not enough coolant in the system.. Everything was fine until Sunday. So I'm thinking this crack just recently decided to rear its ugly head.

Right, and I had no where near enough coolant in it.. But i topped the radiator off, and it bubbled every few seconds, and pressurized the system and it started pisssing out.

This is why my Silverado Was traded in. that and the gas mileage sucked

well, I came home to Post whore a lil bit while i waited for my sister to get outta work so I could go get the red truck at shellys.. After waiting sooo long for her, we finally get there and "ra ra ra raaaa. click click click" Battery's dead.. whata suprise.. But wait. I have cables in the truck and my sister hasn't taken off yet.. So Woooh hooo we'll jump it and I'll be on my way.. yeah right.. if my life was that simple, It would be wonderful... but of course my sister tiny lil trailblazer couldn't even jump my w/t.. So we try for like 20 minutes.. Mean while I try picking up my phone to call someone to come help.. and sure enough. My fucking phone is dead too! Yipppeeee Skippey. I guess Shelly's dad was home, and realized what we were doing, and came out with a battery think that plugs in and it started up.. I'm going to get in.. and oh yeah.. my front tire is almost flat.. well, where the hell is there air out in the boonies of Tiverton.. Thankfully I asked shelly's dad and he had one of those little plug in compressors.. Ok cool. Finally on my way.. well, i'm coming down Bulgarmarsh road.. and what do you know, the check engine light pops on to say hello! awesome.. blahhhh. whatta dayyyy

It's simple, the red truck is jealous of Bubba.

My vehicles do that to me all the time.

well, lil t needs to get over it, cause he's gonna be driven for a few days till bubba gets fixed..

But bubba likes lil t, cause every time someone comes to look at lil t or i post lil t on craigslist, but has a hissey fit and either has a dead battery for no reason, or needs something stupid done, but something that disables me from driving him.. that way I can appreciate lil t being here and not get rid of him.
