I would hafta see it to know what you're talking about. Let me know if you want some help. Any reason why you're going to such a high amperage alt?

its a 3g
its to power my electic fan , subs down the road, and to counter underdrive pulleys
not to mention reducing a fire hazard

acourding to the tech article all it needs to go in is a grinder and a new wire from the alt to the battary

I put one of these in my 90lx, it really is not all that difficult. You will have to grind down a decent amount but it's nothing a little common sense won't tell you while you are doing it. It won't physically fit if you don't grind enough. As for the wiring, I would reccomend running a new wire since the stock wiring was not designed for the 130amps.
I does work well, even with the underdrives I no longer have any lighting or charging issues . I run 2 electric fans, Mallory ignition box which takes up some juice.

Go to a parts store and get one, I got a 2GA wire to re-route my starter wire and it only cost me like 6 bux. Just get the length and size. How big of a wire do you need? I have a bunch kicking around.

i would have to drive it on battery power

alts mounted and after the third atemp on belt size i think i got it
so the list to do is
- wire in new wire to the batt from the alt
- remove the tubeing to the cats and weld or cap shut
- wait for my fricken fan to show up which is very late
wire it in with the kit
plug the back of the heads
drive it a few days
then start the intake and rearend work

do you think its nessisary for the fuse?
PSquare75
Mar 25 2009, 08:13 PM
The OEM setup has a fusible link in the harness...
When I did my 200 amp in my Cougar, I put a fuse.

Mar 25 2009, 08:48 PM
I have a fusible link here if you need it. I would use one of its supposed to have one.
