I'm 90% done with buying a new car, I'm just waiting for the transaction to go through and take delivery. For what I'm spending I want to preserve the car as much as possible. I'm considering getting a clear bra for the front end and mirrors but I know nothing about them.

I assume they're like a thick clear sticker that goes on, but how is it applied? And is it removable should it wear out? (do they wear out?) Can one be had that protects the front bumper cover in addition to just the hood? Most of all, will it cause any damage to the paint over the long term? This car will be my DD for at least the next 10 years barring anything happening to it, so I want to avoid all long term problems.

its just like a regular bra but well clear.... the only paint damage will be the diffrence in the paint when you take it off

I've seen ones that are a vinyl, so I guess they last as long as a normal sticker does. You can even buff them. I wonder if they get yellow though? I saw one the other day on a bimmer, wasnt too noticeable, except for it was raining so there was different water runs.

wasn't there a paint by duplicolor or some company that claimed you could spray it on, it would go on a bit thicker than reg paint and it would protect against road debris etc? then i guess you could wash off the coat and reapply?? not sure but i would imagine the film is better though? dunno.gif

thats the first thing i thought when i saw this thread. I'm pretty sure duplicolor makes a spray on bra.

Normally I would agree with you but the roads in Cleveland are among the worst, if not the worst in the country. All year round you're getting pelted with stones and other debris, and come winter you have a shitload of salt to deal with and bang- rusty hood.

If the car were a beater I could care less, but I'm actually getting something nice and I want to keep it that way.

Is the Duplicolor spray-on thing something that can be done on your own?

Basically I will not get anything that just rests on the front of the car like the old bras. I think they're unsightly and those will certainly kill the finish on the car. If that's what clear bras are like, I'll shy away.

First off, my wording was intended to be a joke.. hardy har harr.. And secondly, I know what you're talking abovut. Living in New England is the same bull shit... Not to mention people are asshole drivers, so everything gets messed up.

Get the 3M clear sheets and be done with it. They are removable as well.

Slammed
they use 3m clear bra's on phantoms and bentleys here,i would say change the bra after 3 years

it will not fade your paint

if installed correctly,it's almost unnoticeable

its like a clear film its good but just b careful cause if you leave it on to long youll notice a color difference in your paint from were the bra was
