VikingWarCry.gif I got this code on the grand prix. It keeps coming on and turning off. I have no idea what it is or how to fix it. I looked online and get answers for saab and srt's and cobalts that are over my head. I want this to stop. The code wasn't even in the book that came with my scanner. Any help? Anyone????!!!! please.gif
BoostedDakota
sounds like a vacuum leak. check all the hoses around the blower or even on the map
The Onion
There should be a bypass valve for the blower....thats probably whats setting off the cel. Im not sure where they are on the grand prix.

There should be 2 or 3 vacuum lines running into it(at least thats how it was on the LSJ
Bad Max
have you done any mods to the car ? could be caused by an over boost or a sticking bypass valve.
D. Snuts
no mods just stickers. I'm looking into this after dinner
Bad Max
most likely the bypass valve is sticking, or the actuator for it died
D. Snuts
where would this valve be? And how do I get the plastic cover off the motor? The oil fill tube seems to be holding it on
Drkmelvin
P0033 code says turbocharger wastegate / supercharger boost solenoid A control circuit.

This DTC checks the supercharger solenoid control circuit for electrical integrity

The enable conditions is when the ignition switch is in crank or run..... 9< ignition voltage <18

got this at http://www.grandprixforums.net/website/Doc...006-L26-L32.pdf

check here...hope this helps you out.

BTW, the oil filler cap holds down the plastic cover. unscrew the cap, then unscrew the filler neck.
The Onion
yeah mark it should be under the 3800 cover...near the blower somewhere.

Pull the cover off first. The crankcase extenstion comes out. The BBV is in front of the blower. It is a small round plastic piece with a vacuum line and metal actuator bracket. There are 3 bolts. Loosen all 3. Push down on the BBV and tighten the bolts while pushing down. PM me if you ned help.

Where did you get your boost control solenoid ?

I have a SC Grand Prix GT which has code P0033 and I need a replacement.

GM sells the whole unit as one piece for approx $500 but I'm sure I just need the solenoid.

Help me if you can - THANKS
D. Snuts
I bought it at Central Chevrolet in West Springfield. Any GM dealer should have it

Thanks - I'll try visiting another dealer and looking it up with him instead of calling the parts desk.

I have just had this P0033 diag code problem on my SC 2006 pontiac grand prix GT.

After much hunting around for the Bypass Boost Control Valve solenoid (local GM dealer could only supply it as part of a kit for $500+) found it on ebay for $24 - its real hard looking for just the name of the unit on the web. The dealer did give me the GM part number of #1997244 and used that to look up on the web which made things much easier...

As of this date, ebay site for this direct replacement unit is http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/GM-BOOST-SO...=item2303eb0277

I had disconnected the unit multiple times to make sure it was not a connection problem, but the SES (check engine light) remained lit. Then the following day with no fiddling, the SES no longer lit. Checking the actuator for the SC waste gate, it was definately working when required (engine idling) - replaced it anyway - very easy (10mm nut) just under the cover left front of SC. During the period it never worked I ohmed it out at 27 ohms. The new one was 31 ohms.

other then being surprised that my baby had a problem, it was that Pep Boys would pull the code for free!

I tried to include enough info here to that the search engines pick it up as its difficult to find all the info in one place, much less in what it is actually called.

Included a picture of the my one (taken from the ebay link above)

The guy said it was part of a kit - probably includes the actuator, the other bit on the top of the SC - maybe the SC itself etc etc
