is that a fact? I think you may need to reword that.

z28 and the ss were beating the 94-04 gt's. damn close between the z and ss against the n/a dohc cobra motors.
the terminator(blown) was beating the ss/z28's

even the lt1.

now the fox's were a hell of alot better than the 3rd gens. ill admit that. sorry. i did need to reword that.

for the price, performance wise... option wise, amongst other things. styling etc.

CAMARO = Best Bang for your Buck.

clearly you have a misunderstanding of how dealerships work.

you say that the camaro you want is MSRP 37k.

With something as hyped up as the camaro, dealers will be trying to get i'd say at least 8k over sticker. Hello 45k.

Even if you can get 5k off the price, youre still at 40k, which nelson already mentioned.

Just like when the GT500 came out in 07, and when it comes out again. In 07 when i worked at tasca, you could expect a GT500 to be listed at 10k over sticker.

You're right, nobody will pay sticker. But, it will be in the wrong direction away from sticker until everybody has one. Once the z28 comes out, people won't have to spend the money and will buy less SS models. Same thing, a z28 will make the v6 cheaper.

Once the novelty wears off, the prices will flatten out. Unfortunately, as nelson mentioned, the way the market is currently, that grace period before novelty wears off may very well be the death of it. The shape GM is in right now, they'll want to make every single penny they can for as long as they can.

JUNE U.S. AUTO SALES

New Camaro outsells Mustang for first time since ’93

DETROIT -- General Motors earned some good news in an otherwise dismal sales month in June: the Chevrolet Camaro outsold the Ford Mustang for the first time since 1993.
The reborn Camaro throttled the restyled Mustang, 9,320 to 7,362. The last time the Camaro beat the Mustang in a U.S. monthly sales race was October 1993, when Chevy sold 10, 985 Camaros and Ford sold 5,680 Mustangs.

The Camaro's success emerged as GM -- which has been operating in Chapter 11 bankruptcy since June 1 -- posted a 33.4 percent monthly sales decline in June and a 40.4 percent plunge for the first half of the year.

The last time the Camaro outsold the Mustang for a full year was 1985. That year, Chevrolet sold 199,985 Camaros, while Ford moved 157,821 Mustangs.

Mark LaNeve, General Motors vice president of vehicle sales, service and marketing, said nearly every Camaro sale in June was at retail, and sales for the month were nearly double the number GM expected.

Camaro was selling best in California, LaNeve said, and GM has only a six-day supply of the vehicle.

Some dealers have reported selling the cars right off the delivery truck, with some consumers paying as much as $500 over sticker -- making the sports coupe one of the few vehicles in the industry hot enough to do that.

Ford has restyled the Mustang for 2010, making it look smaller and upgrading the interior but keeping the same powertrains. The Camaro is all new and features a base V-6 engine that delivers almost as much horsepower as the V-8 in the Mustang.

Camaro's entry-level V-6 comes with direct fuel injection, 304 hp and an EPA rating of 29 mpg on the highway. The Camaro's base price is $23,040 and the Mustang's is $21,845. Both prices include shipping.

it's expected that they make a big sales jump at this point. It's a redesigned car AND it's making a comeback after a hiateous.

if you look at what they stated the last time the Camaro did it was back in 1993.....first year of the new camaro and last year of the fox body......94 Mustangs came out redesigned and the Camaro again faltered.

That was by no way meant to be a jab at mustangs. I know mustang has always been a more popular car, it's just nice to see that GM did something right after all the wrongs. Ford had the right idea when they came out with the latest bodystyle mustang but the 2010's I think are hideous.
