So when the windstar intake manifold was swapped over on to my car, the egr was deleted. The pcv is still hooked up, I've searched for vacuum leaks and can't find anything.
My question is: I'm planning on getting a hand held programmer, will that fix this issue? Or do i just try and get a spacer so i can hook up my egr?
I really don't want to hook up the egr b/c in my mind why would i want to dump preburned air back into the cylinder, doesn't that hinder performance?

Did you put the EGR sensor back on?

im sorry that didnt register, your car company no longer exists...
matt: does the car stall or is it just a rough idle?
EGR actually lowers the combustion temp...
Have you tried cleaning that IACV?
Your car needs to be tuned to use that IACV. The computer doesn't really "know" that one like the original one. For example people who do the 00vi swap on maxima's using the 5thgen IACV have idle problems identical to what your talking about. But when you us the 4th gen IACV with the larger hose and adapter plate the idle issues go away.
Now I don't know about the mustangs computer so idk if it can be tuned to fix that using the windstar IACV. But I know the maxima one can't so people buy the adapter plate. Does anyone make something like this for your car?

Its probably throwing the code since tis a windstar IACV

Are you getting the SES light? If so what is the code?

shoulda had a v-8
i belive they sell things that plug into the egr harness that sends a false signal so the computor dosent try to cofensate for a error
google it

Egr sensor is back on.
Stalls and has a rough idle, not all the time, only 30 seconds - 2 mins after i start the car.
Cleaned the IAC and is working fine it seems.
Throwing three codes 401 egr insuffiecient flow, 1409 EGR vacum issue , 174 bank 2 lean.
SES light?
So my question now is should i just have a god damn spacer made?
I'm so happy out of a f*cking forum with 500 members i can get 9 god damn rersponces.
So much for a god damn forum.

Not always true. Egr shouldn't be causing idleing issues. Lemme do a little digging and I'll see what I can find out for you matt.

I'm just going by what Zack is saying, and he's looked into the swap before so im assuming he knows what hes talking about
oo ok. idk I just never heard of egr giving idle problems.

an EGR will give idle problems. Believe me, I had one dirty enough to stall the truck before

This happens to most v6 mustangs when you delete the egr. Just unplug the sensors for the egr and get it retuned. When you get it retuned you can shut off the egr sensors and make it so that the computer isn't looking for an egr sensor. Right now without the new tune the computer is looking for a sensor signal but isn't getting one. Once you get the new tune it should be running much better. Hope that helps.

Will it fail emissions then when the inspection computer doesn't see an EGR?

as long as theres no engine light and the cars hot when sniff tested then everything should pass
egr only helps emisions when the cars cold so just get the cats nice and hot beforehand

There is no sniff test anymore. The new emissions test tests every single sensor to see what its doing
