So, I got motivated today and decided it was time for summer wheels. Looks good right? Well I uncovered something quite interesting. My rear Brembo rotor split.

So now my car is out of commission until I can get it fixed. :crying: I'm all done with cross drilled. Can't complain though. Been using them for 5 years now. Time for something new.

ahh thats sucks. But yet again I hear of another issue with cross drilled rotors cracking. They look nice and all but I will never ever use them on my cars.

Always need to keep your eye on drilled rotors even for daily driving for cracks. That's a huge crack.. good thing you noticed it now before severe brake failure. 5 years is a pretty long time for any rotors though.

Well that makes me feel better about using the cheap autozone rotors on every car I have or work on. Cross drilled are known to crack, but not like that. Its usualy hairline cracks between holes. Not a massive gap. Thats fuckin insane.
I'de send pictures of that to brembo. No way that should ever happen on the street.. especially on a maxima.

5 years is getting to the limit in rotor life. Rotors are wear item.
Hope no one from here is dumb enough to buy used rotors, unless they are close to takeoffs and/or really really cheap.

Being that they are cross drilled and slotted I have a feeling someone altered them, my understanding is that Brembo will not cross drill and slot rotors, you have to pick one route or the other. So I don't think Brembo would offer up a warranty on these even if they were relatively new.

eh...I got my use out of them. 5 years is good enough. Sucks that I broke a caliper bracket bolt taking them off. I gotta go to the store tomorrow and get a new bracket. I hate working on cars.

No they have the drilled slotted combo available. Tirerack has them. The funny thing is the little disclaimer they have advising no one should use them for any racing applications

slotted ftmfw....cobra has them and the thing stops like a dream and none of the swishing noise of having holes in your rotors.
