Full Version: My Stereo Keeps Kicking Off

I disconnected the amp stuff and kickers first off, so everything is stock right now.

When I turn on my radio is kicks off after 3 seconds, However, if I have the volume at a certain level, it stays on. If I have the volume too low, it kicks off and likewise when I have it too high. Sometimes even if I have the volume to the level in which it stays on, there's crackling in the speakers and shuts off.

Stock Radio for my car, Fuses all checked out fine, even yanked out the stock radio to see if there is a fuse and there wasn't any. What gives?

Don't start diving into stereos, I decided if I get one it'll be brand new.

Perhaps, which is why I grabbed the stock unit out to see if there was a fuse or not and it didn't have one. But yet why stay on with no problems if I have the volume at a set level? And after it stays on, I can adjust the level of the volume with no problems afterwards as well.

that's weird but factory systems can be a pita. My ex had an Eclipse that kept draining the battery. We went nuts trying to find the issue. All in all the factory amp under the passenger side seat needed to be disconnected from it's power supply. When we put in the aftermarket deck it bypassed teh remote turn on for the factory amp and kept it on all the time. Yeah I know it really has nothing to do with your issue but just an example where the factory amp can cause screwy situations.

before you rip out that deck, check all, and i mean all, of your ground leads. That seems like a bad ground issue where the radio comes on and then something happens within the circuit and it shuts itself down kind of like a safety mode.

But, at this point, a new single din deck with really good features is cheaper and simpler to just rip and replace than repairing or getting another factory deck. I personally recommend alpine, never had any issues with any of their products, and they're all reasonably priced. Not to mention you can get an ipod cable that just plugs right in for 20 bucks and install it yourself.

I am not an alipne guy i prefer JVC Pioneere and Kenwood all over Alpine for 1 reason and 1 reason only If your not familiar with their stuff then you need a degree in rocket science to work all the features of them i will never own one again and i have had 2 of them just for that fack and even knowing them takes forever to navigate most of the time same with eclipse they are both high and i mean high quality brands but for ease of use you can get better for your money i am a huge fan of the newer pioneeres this one comes with a USB attachment that you can plug a flash drive into or you can plug the ipod cable to it and controll it all from the same port.
Bluetooth built in Ipod built in usb buit in HD READY SAT READY Suggested retail price is $260 i am sure you can find it cheeper !

here is the link to the pioneer page with all the specs on this radio

Nice Radio, too many bells and whistles though, just looking for something to play mp3's off a disk.

Thanks jcat, a buddy of mine and myself already checked the grounds, and it was fine.

Prolly go through crutchfield and grab a 100 dollar radio with everything included.

I love alpine decks,

spend a little time playin with one and the complexity resolves itself rather quickly,
